Top 20 Bands of the 70s
You are probably wondering why I did a Top 20 instead of a Top 10 for just the 10s.  Well, the answer is simple.  There are just so many damn terrific bands from that decade that I felt ten was not enough.

20.  Sex Pistols
Awesome name for a band.

19.  Foreigner

18.  Supertramp
"Give a little bit, Give a little bit of your love to" - my website....and me, of course.

17.  Rush
Something about those twenty-minute songs really makes me like them.

16.  Cheap Trick
I was going to give them a much better rating, seeing as I love them and they are one of the most underrated bands ever.  But, I decided against it.

15.  Dire Straits
"Money for nothing, and your chicks for free."

14.  Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Won't you fly high, Free Bird, yeah!"  It's a damn shame that most of them died in a plane crash.  They were awesome.

13.  Styx
"Come sail away, come sail way, come sail away with me."  Great song, great band.  They are also responsible for "Mr. Roboto."

12.  Boston
"It's more than a feeling" that they are truly an excellent band.

11.  Queen
"We...are the champions."  Yes you are, Freddie.  And may you rest in peace.

10.  KISS
"Lick it up!"  I'd prefer not to, but they're still a great band.  It's a shame they decided to lose the make-up though.  Although, unlike most people, I don't bitch about that so much because it had no effect on the music.

9.  Kanasa
"Carry on my wayward son, they'll be peace when you are done."  Overplayed, but still great.

8.  Van Halen
"I've got it bad, I've got it bad, I've got it bad.  I'm hot for teacher."  A terrific song about a hot teacher that turns on all the guys in the class.  It's also buy a terrific band.

7.  Def Leppard
Not much to say about them, except that a one-armed drummer is pretty damn impressive.

6.  Deep Purple
"Smooooooooke on the waterrrr.  A fire in the skyyyy."  Yes, that's right.  Deep Purple is responsible for the most famous riff in existence.

5.  Aerosmith
"Dude, looks like a lady."  It's scary when that happens.  Fortunately, Steven Tyler is hear to tell us all about the time it happened  to him.  NOTE:  I have no idea if that actually happened.

4.  The Eagles
"Welcome  to the Hotel California."  A great song about the evils of Hollywood.  I'm surprised Stephen Colbert didn't mention it in the Hollywood chapter of his book.

3.  Journey
"Don't stop, believing."

2.  AC/DC
I wouldn't have personally picked them, but they deserve it.

1.  Led Zeppelin
The number one band of the 70s and possibly of all time.
