In Memory Of
*Armado
*Armado was born in Spain. At 2-years of age, he was imported to the U.S. and entered in the prestigious Scottsdale All Arabian Horse Show. Inexperienced, young, and quickly trained, he showed his colors. Going up against the best in the business, he placed in the Top Five.

Shown only twice more before being "retired" to breed, he took Junior Champion Stallion and Reserve Champion honors.

The first mare he covered produced a filly of such quality that Ironwood Spanish Arabians was put on the map. IWA Alfana took the Arizona-bred Futurity and a Class-A championship as a yearling. Then, as a 2-year old, she took the Region 7 championship!

*Armado was more than just the "ranch stud". He was our loved and trusted friend. He was always the gentleman, whether in the showring, the breeding barn, on the trail, or cutting cattle.

Because of this, he was seen on the trails more than the showring. As a result, most of his offspring went to people looking for sound, levelheaded trail horses. A few made it into the leagues of Dressage, and a few even went on into the "big time".
5/8/79 - 11/6/01
*Armado never really got the pomp and ceremony that he deserved. He was never really appreciated for what he was and what he could do. But, he was a very happy stallion. He was treated with kindness and respect. He gave us everything he had. And, in the end, he tried valiantly to live, but whatever it was attacking his body, wouldn't let go. We allowed him to rest, in peace, on a sunny, Tennessee day in November.

GOODBYE, OLD FRIEND!
