Leicestershire Look-up Exchange

The following is a list of reference works on Leicestershire which volunteers are willing to search for specific entries. To ask for a look-up, please click on the name by the reference. Requests should be specific: give as much detail as you can. Abuses of the kindness of these volunteers will probably cause them to withdraw their names so please don't ask for all references to a common name, or for time-consuming research. Volunteers may or may not be willing to obtain copies of the relevant pages. If they are, expect to reimburse expenses.

Interested in bird watching then follow this link ...Skylark Books

To ensure that your message receives prompt attention please use the words Leicestershire Lookups in your subject line. Many volunteers work on several projects at once and it can be hard for them to try and guess which one you are responding to. Failure to do so could result in your request being overlooked.

NEW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The lookup entry for each village now has a link to all the resources available. Just click on the village name

The people doing these lookups are all volunteers with a life 'offline' as well so please do not ask for blanket lookups, be as precise as you can in specifying  which area you want searched.

The Record office for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland. Publishes lists which detail what is available at the record office. I am willing to look in these lists and tell you what years are available.   Although I try to keep these up to date, don't make a special journey without checking with them first. (Record Office tel. +44 (0)116 257 1080 or fax +44 (0)116 257 1120   )

Handlist of Parish and Non-Conformist Church Registers for Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland.
