The Edge- By Hills

Im on the edge about to fall over
a 40ft drop through a deep ravine
There is some sparse, dry brown-green grass
but the beautiful rock is flecked deep earthy colors
terracotta, deep red, a blend of brown-orange
Its a hot day but there is a cool breeze.,
like cold water washing over your face
The sky is like a calm ocean
with shades and hues of intense blue,
almost white closest to the earth and just about navy
towards outer space
The horizon stretches a long way in the distance
before I reach this ocean
And then when I fall
I will feel the tiny rockets of air
pushing past my face and running by
my ears
the invisible launches will go right through me
because I will be light then
like a fast falling feather,
happy and free
I will feel the freedom of a diving hawk
the excitement pounding on my resistant ribcage
And when I hit
the cool, dark, rock bottom,
the shady darkness surrounding me,
all my pain, my stress, my despair
will vibrate out and up
I will feel the coolness
rising from the rock beneath me,
seeping through my body
I will lie there
taking in the beauty of above
and maybe even I will fall asleep
And when I awake I will be relaxed
and I will be ready to embrace life
with my huge, open arms
