Silent Rescuer

Bad party
Sprinted out to the car
Thanks for rescuing me
Didnt drink a drop

But my lids are heavy
My speech is slurred
Slumped over
Spouting teenage philosophies
On the subject of society

All of you ask
Really?

You sit quiet
As anger seeps out my skin
Like hormones that rage
At parties like that

My rescuer
But no comforter
The epitome of smile and nod
Brush me off
Fleck of your DNA that I am

Didnt teach you to connect
In those child-rearing books
So your fleck of DNA
A person now
And you can only smile and nod
