| Legolin and Legolas meet in Gondor | ||||||||
| For many years before and during the War of the Rings, Gondor and the Pelennor Fields saw many vicious battles between the forces of good and evil. It was in one such battle that Legolin earned great renound with the men of Gondor. It came to pass that Legolin desired news of his brother, whom he had not seen since their seperation at their youth. He had heard that Legolas had went south to the White City of Minas Tirith. Thus Legolin made his way to the fields of Pelennor, just as the armies of Mordor sallied forth for another countless raid on the west. Key to their passage was the brige at Osgiliath, at that time in the hands of Gondor. In the midst of the chaos of preparring for battle, Legolin came upon the young Aragorn, who told him his brother was with him at war and could not be reached save by the crossing at Osgiliath, which was in danger of falling to the enemy. Finding that Gondor was short on soldiers he volunteered to aid in the defense of the White City and was given a small company of men to command. In this way Legolin and his soldiers were charged with holding the bridge at Osgiliath until they were relived. Though a host of the foes made assults on the bridge they could not dislodge the brave men of Gondor or their elven captain. All though the night battle raged on the bridge, numbers showing as thousands of orcs replaced the hundreds that fell. Finally the men began to waiver and break. Snatching up the standard of Gondor, Legolin planted it on the bridge vowing that he would stay, alone if need be and defend their homes if they would not. The sight of the elven prince, sword flashing in the moonlight surrounded the hewed bodies of orcs while waving the banner of Gondor stired the men and bid them return to the frey. With a newfound strength they fell upon their assailents and pushed back the wave. The dawn came red as blood. No less than half the defenders lay dead on the ground as the orcs prepared the final assualt. Screaming and chanting they rushed the bridge, but they never reached it as Legolas and Aragorn led their companies into the rear of the enemy after marching through the night. There, under the banner of Gondor and a red sky, surrounded by orc corpses the brothers met for the first time in an age. Legolas and Legolin embraced, reunited in the struggle to free Middle Earth from Darkness. |
