The Battle of Dale
Legolin fights at the walls of Dale
After some time at the house of Elrond, Legolin desired to visit his father in Mirkwood. He arrived to see the once fair woods in a terrible state, with an orc army encamped around the gates. Fighting his way through the orc warriors he came upon the enterence and met his father within.

Thranduil bade his son to go to the aid of his old friend, King Brand of Dale, as he defended his city against the largest, darkest army of orcs and easterlings ever to march in the north. With fire in his heart Legolin marched to Dale, where he joined the garrison under King Brand and a group of dwarven warriors under King Dain Ironfoot.

With a storm raging in the sky, Legolin took a position upon the walls of the besieged city. His arrows flew true and fast, and many orcs felt the sting of Legolin's bow. After a bitter struggle the walls were in danger of being breached, so King Brand ordered his men to break out to Erebor.

There on the fields in front of Erebor the final battle of Dale was fought. The armies of Dale and Erebor, with Legolin at their side, struggled against the huge orc army that grew stronger under the ragged sky when no sun cut through the clouds.

After a terrible fight the armies of Dale reached Erebor, but before they could enter a shreik rose from the sky as a Nazgul fell down upon the troops. King Brand raised his famous red-arrow towards the Nazgul, but the orc arrows struck first, and King Brand fell dead. With just his personal guard King Dain charged the enemy, axe flashing, but he too was cut down under the scimitars of the orcs.

With both kings dead, the orcs began to ravage the dead, but Legolin rallied a small collection of Dwarves and Men and attacked the enemy. Legolin cut a swath through the orcs and reached the bodies of the fallen kings. Each race hoisted the bodies of their kings and began to withdraw to Erebor. Legolin took up the red arrow of Brand and the army moved into the safety of Erebor.
