Alanna_of_trebond_tortall_and_olau@hotmail.com please subject all emails as Fires of Deceit. Thanx :) Disclaimer: I don’t own any of JRR Tolkien’s characters, but Emily, the prince, Janie, and Sarah are my characters. The places are also my own. Also, dead keepers are my creatures and may not be used under any circumstances. Sarah didn’t know what to do with the body. The woman deserved a proper burial, but it couldn’t be done here. She deserved to be buried back at the palace. Sarah tilted her head as something caught her eye. Kneeling closer, Sarah found a green leaf in the woman’s hand. “Go back to the palace and find someone to come out here and get her.” Sarah instructed the raven. She watched it fly away, and then got up and continued her journey. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It had been 3 days since the Fellowship had left the Three Lemons after being snowed in. Legolas still thought about Janie, thinking about their night of conversation. They came to the town of Serndia, for travel was dangerous due to dead keepers. Everyone in the Fellowship were listening to tales and songs of the many heros and foes in the country. Instead of listening to all of this, Legolas wandered outside to the mini garden behind the inn. “I thought you looked familiar.” Legolas turned around and saw Janie coming his way. “I can’t get rid of you, can I?” Legolas teased. Janie smiled. “I couldn’t get you out of my head for the past day. I don’t know what I would have done if I hadn’t seen you tonight.” She now stood before Legolas, her red hair wild. Her lips were soft, Legolas realized. She broke away from him, her eyes never leaving his. “Nothing can happen between us.” Janie’s voice was quivering. “I am a knight, you have a mission, just as I do. I’m sorry.” Janie turned and ran and didn’t stop until she had entered her room and had bolted the door. She slid to the floor, tears threatening to come. She wanted someone to love her, but she wanted someone who loved her back. Legolas could walk into the common room and he’d have a girl hanging off of him, someone who would be happy just to say she had laid with an elf. She heard the door to the room next to her room open, the door to Legolas’s room. He hadn’t wanted just anyone, he had wanted her. Now tears did come to her eyes. She knocked on the door that connected their rooms. The door knob turned and Legolas rushed to see who it was, ready to attack. He embraced Janie, her tears had stopped. “I’m so confused.” Janie started. “It’s all right.” Legolas comforted her. “It will all be alright.” “I thought… I don’t know what I thought. Well, I do. I thought that you were only looking for someone who…” Janie trailed off, looking down at the floor. Legolas lifted her head, forcing her to look at him. Janie couldn’t grasp what was happening. Neither of them felt such emotions with what happened next. Fear gripped Janie, but enjoyment did so at the same time. The pregnancy charm around her neck hummed and glowed a white colour. Janie didn’t want the night to end, her feelings of joy to end. Legolas pressed his forehead against hers. “Are you alright?” Janie nodded, then smiled. “Perhaps I had been jealous.” “Jealous of what?” “I was thinking about all of the women downstairs that would do anything to experience what I just have, to be able to say that she had laid with an elf. I thought there was something wrong with me for not feeling that way. Now I’ve done what they all wanted to do, and I didn’t sacrifice anything.” Legolas smiled. “You are amazing.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Janie woke with a start. Legolas followed in the same way. “What is it?” he questioned, concern etched upon his words. “There is trouble. I must see to it.” Janie said as she got up. She threw her undergarments, breeches, shirt, and tunic on. She got her hair out of her face with her head scarf. She geared up with her weapons and was about to go out the door when Legolas stopped her. She turned around and faced him. “I’ve already lost one person, I don’t want to loose you too.” Legolas told her, his eyes poured into hers. Janie kept tears back. “I love you.” She fell into his embrace. She left. ‘I can’t loose her.’ Legolas thought. ‘I can’t have that grief.’ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Note: I’m not sure how to end the story. I know, it was mean to break them up like that, but I was listening to Creed’s “One Last Breathe” and “My Sacrifice” while writing this. A hint to what might happen next is that Janie WILL have to make a sacrifice, which she most likely will, even if it means her life.
