Feedback: Rockerbaby198754@aol.com King Thanduil looked out over the palace gates from the window above. He didn’t seem to understand after 9 long months of waiting that his heir was about to be born. The butler, Yocadalish came out onto the balcony where Thanduil was standing. “ How is she?” he asked worriedly. “The contractions are the same amount of time as they were the last time u asked, sire” the old butler replied. “Oh, sorry, im just nervous some thing will go wrong like the last time.” He said quietly. It was no secret the queen had had 3 miscarriages and two babies born dead. The nurse appeared in the doorway. “Sire, u have a son and he is in very good health-“she started to say. “Wonderful, marvelous!! He exclaimed. But it wasn’t wonderful. “My lord, the queen is dying.” She said quietly. W/o hesitation the king ran to the room where the queen and baby lie. He entered the room and saw for the first time a perfect, beautiful baby boy, but, the queen was pale. “Thanduil, take care of our son.” She said quietly. “Darling ur going to be fine, u will be fine.” He said choking up w/ tears. With those final words from her the pillows sank in to a heap and she turned white in color, w/ no life inside her. The public was shocked at the news of one life sacrificed by God for another. Anyone else would have been angry about that, but not Thanduil, he only loved his little prince more. Even though his little Greenleaf, would need a wet nurse he never failed to spend as much time w/ his son as possible. One nite, a week b4 the prince’s 40th b-day, he sat w/ his father by the fire and asked; “father y do all of our faithful subjects have mothers but I don’t?” he asked softly. Thanduil looked down at the little baby wrapped in his arms and said; “Legolas my love, ur mother died after she gave birth to u.” he whispered. The little prince looked up at his father who didn’t know what to say. “Y?” he asked curiously. Thanduil was searching for words just as the old butler came into the parlor. “Here is his milk ur highness.” The butler said placing it down on the little table beside them. “Thank you Yocadalish.” said the king taking the bottle of the table and handing it to the prince. As he drank slowly and drifted off to sleep in his father’s arms, Legolas thought of his mother and the many paintings of her seen around the halls many corridors. As his father undressed him out of his light green tunic w/ matching leggings and into a white pair of pajamas the little prince slowly fell into a light sleep. “Papa, thank you for telling me the truth.” He said quietly. “Ur welcome darling, I just hope this doesn’t disturb ur pleasant dreams.” He said stroking his son’s beautiful blonde hair. Chapter 2 The next morning as expected the little prince ran into his father’s room and in a soft whisper he said, “Father”. The Elvenking woke up slowly and saw Legolas starring at him. “What r u so excited about?” he asked. Legolas gave him a look, surely his father hadn’t forgotten. “U said u were going to find horses today, rite?” he said. Thanduil gave him a serious look. “No Legolas u may not come along, it’s far too dangerous.” he said getting out of bed. Legolas argued and protested all the way out to the kitchen, but his father’s mind was made up. The queen’s sister Natalsia was in the kitchen when she heard Legolas’s argument to his father. She turned to Thanduil, “If that were my son I would have locked him in his room after the first protest.” She said glaring at Legolas. Legolas looked at Thanduil, his blue eyes filling w/ tears. “Well… maybe if it was over something drastic like wanting to go to war, but…” Thanduil stammered. He hated having the queen’s sister w/ them; she always made life so difficult, for everyone. “Father im sorry…” the prince started to say. “No Legolas, u don’t have to be sorry, but, darling, please avoid number one, any kind of disrespect or arguing to me in anyway it is unacceptable, and number two if u and I are quarreling and it’s that important to you, we MUST do it away from Aunt Natalsia, she doesn’t understand y im so laxed w/ u.”Thanduil said looking at his son. “Can’t we just tell her to go back to the Grey Heavens, she always gives her opinion when it is not wanted.” he said. “Eat ur fruit darling.” The king said quietly. “Yes, father.” The prince said opening his mouth and letting Thanduil place a piece of pair in. Yocadalish came up beside them just as Legolas was finished eating. “Sire, is it time for his bath yet?” he asked the king. “Yes, yes I believe it is.” said the Elvenking picking up his baby and carrying him upstairs. Once Legolas was undressed and in the bath, Thanduil gave him a final kiss and said, “Legolas, be nice to our butler please, I don’t want hear about anymore splashing fights from Voladasa.” The king said playfully. “Ok father.” said Legolas giggling. Voladasa was the maid and chief cook of the house. “Poppy?” Legolas said quietly. The King and butler looked at each other, only when the prince was very serious about something did he call his father that, it wasn’t that Thanduil disliked it he merely knew Legolas just grew out of it. “Yes, darling?” the Elvenking asked. “Don’t leave w/o saying goodbye.” He said timidly looking at Thranduil. “Don’t worry, I won’t leave w/o saying goodbye to u.” he said. The horses were saddled and the king and his band were about to leave when Legolas ran fully dressed out the door to greet them. Thranduil quickly finished saddling his horse and ran to Legolas scooping him up in his arms. “How’s most best, amazing, boy in the world.” He said kissing him. “Hi, Father.” He said putting his arms around him and squeezing him hard. “I will see u in a few days, my boy.” Thranduil said putting him down. They both saw Natalsia coming out into the courtyard. “We shall be perfectly fine while u are gone.” She said putting an arm around Legolas. “Goodbye, Father.” He said quietly.
