Excerpts from Intent/Notations
by Richard Armijo

9.
/p/
a barely noted inflection
pours like rain pouring
quickly in bilabial pursuit
of early darkness,
where I whisper sounds
pigmented
of painted bridges the
mind fools me
into supposing them
to be canvases

4.
everything in this herespace
that is not space
is a dusty Millennial grey
a Paine's grey of imagined flesh
the grey of Stuart portraiture
where them male torso fade
wherein power is mortal

3.
Before snow later
call them sibling
or minimal pairs
Sometimes over lay
palimpsestic diptychs
Always
like people
mutable.

7.
panels 1, 2, and 3
two larger than 1
3 painted white
no copula
verb missing
sand the sizing of 1
on asphalt ground.

8.
that I had a parent
or a cat my cat
satin in a chair and stared
at my painting
she meowed:
This is not a cat
it's a painting.

11.
this fragment is un
quenchable
it pushes at the
corner eye
staining my flesh:
             or
             {my soul
             crept up to my lips,
             as though
             it wished
             (poor soul!)
             to cross
             over to him}

             Plato: Sokrates to Agathon

15.
a sheet of flesh
not so pigmented as human flesh.

in opacity nonhomogenous
from the palm
absorbing oil that convenes
the shape of my hand
from midfinger tip to elbow's joint
in breadth
is moved by breath.
