Let These Cross Your Path!

So much of the Sleepy Hollow story has been honored by this little town. Not only are the trademark locations in the village interesting to visit, but other attractions also spur adventerers to wander. Before setting out to discover new attractions, I reccommend trying the local Horseman Family Restaurant. This festive little diner showcases its town history along the walls of the place, from the Tim Burton movie poster to the town mascot painted across a huge mirror. (Of course the town mascot is our headless rider on his black charger!) The owners sell Horseman Restaurant shirts, the Horseman stitched across the chest, while regulars sit-in and enjoy delicious meals from morning till night. I had to go back a second time, and I still want more!

The Horseman Family Restaurant is located in downtown Sleepy Hollow, on the main drag, on the way to the Old Dutch Church and cemetary. Definitely mark this place on your Sleepy Hollow "To-Do" list!

Lyndhurst Mansion

The site for the vampire soap opera's setting in Dark Shadows is Lyndhurst Mansion in Tarrytown, next door to Sleepy Hollow. This gorgeous mansion is open for tours to the public and is intricitly decorated with various themes throughout the year. In December, 2003, each room had a different fairy tale theme, ranging from "Little Red Riding Hood" to "Sleeping Beauty" and "Peter Pan." This beautiful castle is built close to the Hudson; from the back porch, one can spy the Tappan-Zee Bridge and a plethora of ancient trees shrouding the surrounding land in mystery. The winding branches and knobby trunks of these trees were probably one of the many reasons the vampiresque show was shot at this very location.
