History
X Japan was formed during the summer of 1982 by Yoshiki and
Toshi, when they were still
primary school students. The band was called "Dynamite"
at the time. It was then renamed to
"Noise" and "X" afterwards. By 1987, Hide,
Taiji (former bassist), and Pata joined, and the basic
structure of the band was formed.
Their first debut album "Vanishing Vision" was released
in January, 1988. Many hit songs such as
Sadistic Desire, Alive, Kurenai, and Un-finished were included in
it. Unforunately, at that time
hard rock songs were not as popular, and so many magazines
started to called them 'violent.'
The second album "Blue Blood," released in 1989, was
the key to bringing sucess to X.
X became one of the most popular rock bands in Japan.
31st of January, 1992, Taiji, the former X bassist, announced his
decision to leave the band, right after the
release of the album "Jealousy". Heath then joined X
during August of 1992 to fill up the bassist
position. "X" was then renamed to "X Japan."
The main reason was X wanted to go international
and there was already a band named X in the United States..
Their last album, Dahlia, was released 5 year after the album
"Jealousy" during 1996. It contained
the singles released during the period between 1992 to 1996. 5
months after Toshi quit the band, they officially disbanded. The
reason behind their decision was that Toshi joined a "Self
Discovery Seminar."
After they disbanded, Yoshiki asked Toshi if he would join X
Japan to sing one last song -Toshi
agreed. The last live concert of X Japan was held at Tokyo Dome
on 31st December 1997. And that is where it ended. However, their
Legend will always live on.
