Series #6 Recap – White Elephants vs. Americans

Game #1:  White Elephants win 3 – 1

Five White Elephants pitchers held Boston to one run on eight hits to secure the victory.  Dave Bancroft doubled home Joe Medwick from first with two outs in the 6th after Boston had tied the game in the 5th.  Sam Rice was 2 for 4 with two stolen bases.

Game #2: White Elephants win 8 – 4

Scranton put the game out of reach with a three-run 6th inning, highlighted by back-to-back doubles by Joe Medwick and Dave Bancroft.  Medwick was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two runs scored.  Ed Delahanty was 3 for 5 with a double, homerun, and stolen base.  Frank Chance hit a pinch-hit homerun for Scranton.  Sam Crawford was 2 for 3 with two walks.

Game #3: Americans win 8 – 7

Oscar Charleston carried the Americans to a dramatic comeback victory.  Charleston (4 for 5, 3 R) hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the 9th to give Boston the win.  Joe Medwick was 2 for 3 with a homer for Scranton.  Bobby Wallace and Nellie Fox were both 2 for 3 with 2 walks.  Wallace scored three runs.  Three Americans were caught stealing.  Mike Welch uncorked three wild pitches.
