VA
and Newark have finalized a deal to take affect set 5:
Newark
sends struggling 1st round pick Mickey Mantle and lefty Sandy Koufaz
to the
Admirals for Joe DiMaggio and Vic Willis. Both teams hope the shake
will pay
off. Newark is struggling with the worst record in the LOC and has
an
enigmatic .235 team BA. Mantle himself was hitting .261 even though he
lead the
team in HRs and BBs. It is hoped Joey D will provide a spark to
the
struggling offense. Koufax was expected to anchor the staff for years
to come but
struggled all season watching 1967 pitcher Gary Nolan become the
team's ace.
Newark
takes 3 out of 4 from the Yanks and Senators to pull to 37-41.
Mantle is
the bif story as he finally pulled out of his slump. Maybe he's
just releived
to be leaving the "Landfill."
