Cleveland, OH (UPI)- Disgruntled pitcher Jim Lonborg won his final start for the Spiders, raising his season
record to 2-9.  After the game, he went alone to the locker room, and packed his bags, having been traded
to the Kansas City Monarchs.  Joining Lonborg in leaving was former closer Minnie Rojas, who had lost his
job to Stan Covaleski.  Joining the Spiders will be SS Rico Petrocelli and pitcher Sonny Siebert.  Rumors
were swirling around Cleveland last night, as reports had Lonborg going to the Monarchs, then to the Virginia
Generals, then back to Kansas City.

Speculation was raised about a deal, as the deadline passed with out  any word.  However, due to a freak
tornado in the mid west, phone service was knocked out, and the commissioners office was unavailable until
this morning, although the deal had been completed prior to the dead line. The belated fax, dated prior to the
deadline was finally received, and OK'd by the commissioners office this AM.  Spiders' manager John
McGraw was reached this morning to comment. "It was a long night.  We tried several angles, and together
with GM Bill Veeck, we managed to get a deal done.  We're happy to get both Mr. Siebert, and Mr. Petrocelli.
While giving up a guy of Minnie Rojas' caliber, we felt we were improving ourselves enough to do the deal."
Bob Lemon is expected to take Lonborg's slot in the rotation, with Siebert moving into the Spiders' bull pen.

To make room for Petrocelli, SS Gene Alley was sent down. "This is no reflection on Gene," said GM Bill
Veeck.  "It's just that Rico fits a bit better right now, so we made the move."  In other moves, Cleveland sent
down OF Rick Reichart, and called up 3B Max Alvis. John McGraw indicated other changes might be in store.
"We need to do something to jump start us back up again.  It'll mean guys get a few days off more, and we'll
be moving some guys around a bit.  Gotta do something."
