In an
exciting finish the Missouri River Bats pulled out a win over the St.
Louis
Perfectos by a score of 9 to 8 at Busch Stadium.
The
game was decided in the 9th inning. Joe
Kelley tripled. Judy Johnson
stepped
up to the plate and he hit a single resulting in an exciting win for
Missouri
and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Missouri
won
despite being out-hit by St. Louis 14 hits to 11.
The
winning pitcher was Tony Pierce(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Eddie
Watt(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief.
His biggest problem was
control
as he allowed 5 walks in 2 innings.
