"Cream"

(Opening scene: A young woman getting off a city bus and heading towards a residential building. A drunk shambles towards the young woman.)

Drunk: Hey, yo! Got milk? Aiight. I had a sister who looked like you died in the Tallahassee food riot..haha

(The young woman reaches the door of the building and ignores the drunk. A man rushes up behind the young woman and throws a sack over her head and is dragged away.)

Elena: Aaahhh...

(The drunk watches in disbelief as the woman is being abducted.)

Drunk: Wait!...hold on.

Elena: Aaaahh...help!..

(A van pulls up a door opens and another man helps the abductor to pull the woman into the van. The abductor gets in and the van speeds away.)

(Scene cuts to a room with a camera and monitor. The abductors push the Elena into the room and sit her down in front of a chair. They remove a black hood from her head. An Eyes Only message comes on the monitor.)

Eyes Only: Are you alright Elena?

(Elena laughs.)

Elena: In my neighborhood this is a date.

Eyes Only: I'm sorry it has to be this way. I hope you understand the need to take precautions.

(Elena sighs)

Elena: You know after I reached out to your people and, and didn't hear back. I wasn't sure you'd see me. Thank you.

Eyes Only: How can I help you?

Elena: In one of your cable hacks you mentioned my father. Nathan Herrero.

Eyes Only: We were colleagues back in the days of the Pacific Free Press.

Elena: I want you to help me find out what happened to him.

Eyes Only: My understanding is that your father was ....disappeared. In all probabbility murdered.

Elena:..but that was the assumption but nobody knows for sure.

Eyes Only: It's been over two years. Maybe it's time for you to let him go?

Elena: I can't. Not until I find out what happend to him and who is responsible.

Eyes Only: You should understand Elena I'm not in the investigation business.

(Scene shifts to Logan's apartment. Logan is watching Elena on video.)

(Elena sighs)

Elena (on video):Will you help me?

(Scene shifts back to Logans apartment. Max walks in as Logan is rewinding the video and plays it.)

Elena(on video): Will you help me?

(Scene cuts back to Max at Logans apartment looking at the video of Elena.)

Max: Still churning over how to handle the daughter of that famous, crusading, disappeared journalist guy?

(Logan stops the video. He turns and hands Max a photo from a folder on his lap.)

Logan: She sent me these.

(Max takes the photos and looks through them.)

Logan: I looked into it back when he first disappeared. It's all coming back to me. Everybody wanted Herrero dead. Cop, mob, political bosses. Basically he gave anyone dirty a reason to kill him. And they did.

Max: Sounds like a story right up your alley. So depressing.

(Max notices a photo of Nathan Herrero and his daughter at a birthday party. A red ballon sit on the table between Nathan and Elena in the photo. The photot triggers a falshback for Max.)

(Scene cuts to Max's falshback. A young Max is going through field trainning in the woods with other members of X-5. Young Max spots a red ballon stuck on a tree limb a few yards away from her postion. Young Max taps a young Zack on the shoulder and gestures to the ballon. Young Zack goes and retrives the ballon as the other X-5's look on. Zack brings the ballon to the group but the TAC leader shows up.)

TAC Leader: You give me that contraband and return back to trainning area..

(Young Zack kicks the TAC leader in the stomach and the TAC leader goes down.)

TAC Leader: Arrgghh...

(Max notices Lydecker looking at the whole scene at a distance while she is holding the red ballon. Max releases the ballon and watches it drift away.)

(End flashback.)

(Scene cuts back to Logan's apartment.)

Logan: I feel for this girl.

Max: Huh?..

Logan: I really feel for this girl. There's a big hole in her life and nothing ever is gonna fill it. Finding out wheter her father was murdered execution style by the government or buried in cement by gangsters isn't going to bring him back.

Max: No, but at least it will get rid of the question marks. Not to be a pest, but is there anything on my stuff?

(Logan turns to Max.)

Logan: About your birth mother. I've been searching medical records of females approximately twenty years old admitted to psycriatric facilities around the time you were born. Whe is your birthday by the way?

Max: I have no clue.

Logan: What do you mean?

Max: Manticore wasn't big on that kinda thing. What's yours?

Logan: November 11th.

Max: I got you an early present.

(Max reaches behind her and hands Logan a brown paper bag.)

Logan: A grapefruit. Wow! I haven't seen one of these in awhile.

(Logan smiles and admires the grapefruit.)

Max: I got 'em over at the market on Fairmont. They had chickens too.

Logan: We must be in a recovery.

Max: I gotta jet.

(Max turns to leave.)

Logan: Max, if I need you to look into the Herrero thing for me...

(Max turns back.)

Max: One hand washes the other.

Logan: you should pick one.

(A pause. Max looks confused.)

Logan: A birthday.

Max: What for?

Logan: In this short brutal life you've got to seize any opportunity you can to celebrate.

(Max and Logan smile.)

(Scene cuts to Jam Pony. Herbal is standing next to the timecard puncher machine holding a timecard out to Pedro.)

Herbal: Pedro, let me be in your hearts a Benjamin till friday . Man I am broke like a potato chip

(Pedro punches himself in.)

Pedro: Sorry, bro I am tapped out myself right now.

(Sketchy come into Jam Pony and hands Herbal some money.)

Sketchy: I got your back.

(Herbal and Sketchy shake hands.)

Herbal: Love.

(Scene cuts to Skecthy at his locker opening it as Pedro and Herbal watch from nearby the dispatch desk.)

Pedro: Wuz up with that. He gets paid dirt the same as us. He just opened the note.

Herbal: Well, Ja give everyman him time flush in the sun.

Pedro: Not in Seattle Dude.

(Sketchy closes his locker and with his bike he leaves.)

(Scene cuts to Sketchy riding down some streets. He stops in front of a metal door with a front panel with the letters O.S.C. printed on it. Sketchy gives a series of taps as Rafe opens the door. Sketchy nods and Rafe slips a blue envelope through the panel to Sketchy. Sketchy puts the envelope in his messenger bag. SKetchy looks around breifly and leaves.)

(Scene cuts to Logan at a bar throwing darts. He scores a bullseye.)

Detective Matt Sung: I'm impressed.

(Logan turns to see Detective Sung.)

Detective Matt Sung: Hey.

Logan: Hey..

(Detective Sung laughs.)

Logan: Well the last we played cost me three beers.

(Logan and Detective Sung both laugh. Logan hands Detective Sung some beers and they heard for a nearby table.)

Logan: So, what do you got for me detective?

Detective Matt Sung: Squat. Nathan Herrero exposed a lot of wrong cops in his day. His disappearance was investigated buut with not much enthusiasim.

Logan: Anyway I can take a look at the case file?

Detective Matt Sung: It's sealed. How come? I don't know.

Logan: So who's pocket needs lining?

Detective Matt Sung: I start sniffing after Nathan Herrero I buy myself a pair brown leaden shoes, especially with Alan Lans about to become Police Commisioner.

Logan: Hmmm...now that's a grim thought.

Detective Matt Sung: Get used to the idea. All I can tell you is that the case file are locked in muni. I'm sorry what'da gonna do.

Logan: He knows you do what you can Matt.

Detective Matt Sung: You've ever met him? Eyes Only?

Logan: Just a fan doing my part.

(Logan reaches for a pouch and takes out a gameboy.)

Logan: I got this for your kid hard to find nowadays.

Detective Matt Sung: Hey, You don't need to this man I'm giving you nothing here.

Logan: It's not for you.

Detective Matt Sung: Look..I'm..I'm sure my boy would love it but I can't.

Logan: It doesn't make you a guy on the take.

(Logan hand Matt the gameboy.)

Detective Matt Sung: Well, I guess everybody is. Well, least helping you folks I can look myself in the eye when I wake up in the morning. Thanks.

(Matt gets up and leaves.)

(Scene cuts inside a underpass. Someone is spray painting grafitti on a poster as Sketchy is doing some bike jumps on a ramp. The Lickety Split Girl is watching and cheering him on.)

Original Cindy: Now there's a herfer I can get explicit with.

(Original Cindy and Herbal are standing nearby watching the Lickety Split chick girl as she is watching Sketchy.)

Herbal: The most high tells us not to speak of wicked things.

Original Cindy: Then it's all good. Cause Orignal Cindy is about deeds not words.

Sketchy: Here's a twentith century classic. The sneaky chick.

(Max is riding in watching the Sketchy and the other bike riders soing stunts.)

Sketchy: Oh, A front wheel 180 into a nose manual overlap into close to 5 seconds. I shall demonstrate.

Max: Wassup?

Original Cindy: Sketchy is showing out for the lickety chick only she belongs to me.

(Max laughs as she watches Sketchy.)

Max: Sketchy's got some mad skills.

(Sketchy executes the stunt perfectly.)

Orignal Cindy: He aiight.

(Sketchy stops his bike in front of the Lickety Split Girl.)

Lickety Split Girl: Okay, pony boy how bout a jump? No foot can can, cross up with nose manual?

Sketchy: Cake.

(Sketchy turns his bike towards the ramp. Sketchy attempts his jump and fails as his bikes wheel catches an edge. He falls and the envelope Rafe gave hime earlier falls out.)

Sketchy: That was practice man. The real thing now.

(Max's beeper goes off and she turns to leave.)

Max: Oh,..gotta blaze.

(We see the envelope from Sketchy's back pocket floating into a stream of water leading to a sewer drain as Sketchy is getting up again to do another stunt.)

(Scene cuts to Max on the street on a payphone.)

Max (on the phone): Logan, me hitting you back. What kinda help?

(Scene cuts to the front of the Muni building. Max drives up front to check out the security ans then drives away.)

(Scene cuts to Max on the ledge of the second floor working her way into the building as guards below are checking everyone entering and leaving the building with metal detectors.)

(Scene cuts to a guard whistling and making the rounds on the floor as Max stays hidden waiting till the guard began his route again. Max heads for the mens bathroom and proceeded to stuff the sink with a rag. Max turns the water on to full and waits a few moments for the water to fill the basin .)

(Scene cuts to a guard at the bathroom area looking a a puddle of water.)

Guard 1: "Hey, cap, are you there? Yeah, I got a moisture situation. Fourth floor, men's room.

(Max enters the Archive room.)

(The guard returns after a few momnets and sees a janitor mopping up.)

Guard 1 (to janitor): Well, no floating pieces of corn...which is good news."

(The guard is alerted to his station by a beeping sound eminating from a board with the room 412 [the Archive room] blinking.)

(Scene cuts back to Max finding the disk in the archive room. Max is about to leave when a guard shows up.)

Guard 1: "Hold it right there!"

Max: "What if I want to hold it over here?"

(Max runs in circles)

Guard 1: "Don't make this any worse than it's got to be."

(Max evades the guard.)

Max: "You're the one holding the gun."

Max: "I dated a guy like you once. Everything had to be his way....know what I told him?.."

(Max lands on the guard and knock him unconscious.)

Max: I wanna see other people...

(Scene cuts to more guards showing up and Max blocking the door of the room. Max takes a dive out a nearby window.)

(Scene cuts to outside the police headquaters. Max gets on her motorcycle and speeds towards the guards.)

Guard #2: Get off the bike!!

( The two guards fire on her as she speeds away.)

Guard # 3: What the hell was that?

Guard #2: Sure, it looked like a girl.

(Scene cuts to Jam Pony. Sketchy is banging his head on a locker door as Herbal and Original Cindy stand nearby.)

Herbal: Easy, chill.

Sketchy: Don't give me any of your ivory crap Herbal. Everything is not all cook n' curry! Okay? My hours are numbered.

(Sketchy bangs his head against the locker door again as Normal walks by.)

Normal: Hey, hey! company equipment. Be careful. Bip, bip, bip..

(Normal points to his watch and leaves.)

Original Cindy: Why were you working as a mule for a bunch of Russian gangsters? If I may ask?

(Sketchy turns to Original Cindy.)

Sketchy: I am a young capitalist in a failing economy. I saw an opportunity and went for it.

(Sketchy turns and walks to the lunch tables with Original Cindy and herbal following behind.)

Original Cindy: Only you lost the cheese.

Sketchy: I got to the drop and the envelope was gone.

Original Cindy: Probably lost it dumming for my lickety boo. Serves you right.

Sketchy: I'm road kill here you guys..

(Herbal opens his carton of chinese food.)

Original Cindy: How much are we talking about?

Sketchy: More than I got.

Herbal: Listen ta me my brotha. It's just destiny fulfilling itself.

Sketchy: Tahnk you for your kind words Herbal, but what do I do?

Herbal: Jah, no.

Sketchy: Jah come. If I don't give these guys cash money..

(Herbal simles.)

Sketchy: Maybe I should just go talk to these guys? explain what happened..

Original Cindy: Followed by some very fast running.

(Herbal laughs.)

Sketchy: No, these are businessmen. I mean the Odessa Social Club is a fairly sizeable gambling operation. These guys should be open to an equitable arrangement to make things right.

Herbal: But Sketchy. Don't forget the part about the very fast running.

(Original Cindy laughs.)

Sketchy: No, this is gonna be okay. I'm confident.

(Sketchy turns and leaves.)

Herbal: When he's dead who gonna get ta keep his bike?

(Original Cindy hits Herbal with a chopstick.)

(Scene cuts to Logan's apartment. Logan is at his computer looking at a file on Nathan Herrero.)

Logan: According to this. The police were investigating a possible contract hit on Herrero. Paid for by the Beltran administration as payback for taking down one of the Mayor's lieutenants.

(Logan turns to Max.)

Max: It's what happens when you fight CityHall.

Logan: Only Herrero was grabbed 3 days before the whack was supposed to go down and never heard from again.

Max: Think another player got to him first?

Logan: Looks like it. Clean grab. No forced entry. Housekeeper showed up the next morning saw signs of a struggle and reported him missing.

Max: Where was the daughter?

Logan: She and the old man were estranged at the time. She was hitting the bong and had an older boyfriend. Usual teenage thing.

(Logan sighs)

Loagn: Nathan didn't approve so she ran away.

Max: Now all she wants is her daddy.

Logan: How it goes I guess.

(Logan presses a remote and play a police video interview of the housekeeper.)

(Scene cuts to a woman wearing a red scarf sitting in a police interragtion room.)

Police (on video) : State your name for the record please?

Rebecca Cuthrell (on video) : Rebecca Cuthrell

Police (on video) : On the morning in question. You arrived to work at?

Rebecca Cuthrell (on video) : 9 A.M. same as always.

Police (on video) : What did you find?

Rebecca Cuthrell (on video) : Mister Herrero wasn't there. It looked like there had need some sort of fight.

(Logan halts the video.)

(Scene cuts back to Logans apartment.)

Logan: Herrero's housekeeper.

Max: The one who reported him missing.

Logan: Disappeared herself two weeks after the murder.

Max: Scared probably.

Logan: Or involved..

(Logan pops out a CD from his computer.)

Logan: Thanks for getting a hold of this by the way.

Max: No big dealio.

Logan: I do seem to be putting you in harms way quite a bit lately.

Max: Yeah, and?

Logan: So I got you a little something.

(Logan gestures to a laqured box on top of a cabinet.)

Max: What's this?

Logan: A present.

(Max opens the box. Inside the box is a 9mm semi automatic and a clip. Max closes the box and returns it to Logan.)

Max: Not to sound ungrateful but I don't do guns.

Logan: That would make you the only person walking around this city not packing.

Max: And that's how it's gonna stay.

Logan: A genetically engineered killing machine squimish about guns.

(Max has a brief flashback to Manticore to when Lydecker killed a young X-5 holding a gun.)

Max: Just a rule.

Logan: Okay, if you change your mind...

Max: I won't. Gotta say I'm a little surprised. A high minded, idealistic, a lefty humanist like yourself advocating greasing the bad guy.

Logan: It's a kick or be kicked in the ass world out there.

Max: Now kicking ass. I got no issues with.

(Scene cuts to Sketchy riding his bike and pulling to a stop in front of a metal door wtith the letters O.S.C. on it. Sketchy knocks on the door with a series of taps. A man slides open a panel on the door and peers out at Sketchy.)

Rafe: Cash didn't get there. Why?

Sketchy: Let me explain the situation.

(Scene cuts to Sketchy being thrown into a pile of garbage in the alleyway of the club.)

Sketchy: Now, listen to me. I understand you are upset.

(Rafe slaps Sketchy across the face as Henryis holding a lead pipe nearby.)

Rafe: I don't get upset because of my ulcers. He get's upset.

(Rafe looks at Henry. Henry slams the top of a trash bin with the lead pipe.)

Sketchy: Okay...no!, just , just hear me out. Rafe Alright? The, the envelope in question you, you said had $15,000 in it. I'm gonna take your word on that particular figure. So let's see now..you pay me twenty bucks a run. Two runs a week. That's 2,080 a year divided into 15 g's. So to make things right..I will work for you for free for 375 weeks..which works out to be the next 7 1/5 years approxiamtely.

(Rafe and Henry look at Sketchy.)

Sketchy: Make me a counter offer guys?...

(Scene cuts to Max and Original Cindy riding into an alleyway. They see Sketchy bound, gagged and hanging upside down naked from a series of chains. Sketchy has his hands strategically placed to cover his lower extremities.)

(Both Max and Original Cindy laugh.)

Original Cindy: Now that is my idea of a perfect man.

(Original Cindy removes the gag from Sketchy's mouth.)

Sketchy: Come on guys. I got 36 hours to come up with the money or I'm gonna end up like my clothes.

(They all turn to see a smoldering pile of clothes.)

Sketchy: Will you please get me down?

(Max's pager goes off.)

Max: Well, I gotta bounce. Can you handle this?

(Max leaves.)

Original Cindy: I've got it covered.

(Original Cindy shoves the gag back into Sketchy's mouth.)

Original Cindy: Whatever you do keep your hands where they are. Original Cindy just ate.

(Scene cuts to Logans apartment. Logan is in his kitchen making a sandwhich.)

Logan: Did some digging on the housekeeper. She's been unemployed since Herrero died but 18 months ago she brought a place on Alexander. So where did she get the cash?

(Max and Logan leave the kitchen.)

Max: Alexander is not exactly Park Avenue.

Logan: Still, she brough an apartment.

Max: So, Rebecca Cuthrell helped kill Herrero, waited a safe amount of time then used the blood money to move into a new crib.

Logan: That's how I figured it. Problem is trail is cold. Unlikely we can prove anything but if we knew who her friends are..who she talks to. Maybe we can shake something loose. Give Elena the last chapter of her fathers life. To that end I was hoping to impose on you to install this?

(Logan shows Max a small box.)

Max: Voice activated parabolic mic, with a high gain noise filter, litium powered RF transmitter. Broadcasting at what? 400 megs? I excelled at telecommunications as a child.

Logan: 450 megs actually.

Max: Really? I stand corrected.

(Scene cuts to an exterior shot of Rebecca Cuthrell apartment buliding at night. A black leather gloved hand places serveral mic's on windows. We see Max placing more. Max slides down to the second floor window and notices the back of a mans head. Rebecca Cuthrell enters the room and embraces the man who is holding a glass. Max sees the person Rebecca Cuthrell is embracing is none other than Nathan Herrero.)

(Scene cuts to a hover drone patrolling downtown Seattle. Logan watches as a hover drone pass by the window of the library that he is in. Logan is at a table scribbling some notes down. Nathan Herrero strolls towards some book nearby Logan.)

Nathan Herrero: This place used to be a haven for writers, artists. Those of us who took the time to think about what it means to be.... human. Now it feels like we are in an armed camp.

Logan: For the time being.

Nathan Herrero: Hello my friend.

(Logan and Nathan exchange smiles. Nathan sits in a chair down across from Logan.)

Nathan Herrero: Have to say I was surprised to hear your voice on the phone. I'm a little concerned. I went to a lot of trouble to disappear. But after much hesitation here I am.

Logan: I appreciate your coming.

Nathan Herrero: What made you come looking ?

Logan: Elena.

Nathan Herrero: I use to play chess at this table with Hunter Dylan. Murdered by a police death squad for speaking out against the Beltran administration.

Logan: And you didn't want the same thing to happen to you. So you staged your own abduction and went into hiding.

Nathan Herrero: Same as you. Only you kept working and filing your stories from underground. I didn't.

Logan: That's the part I don't understand.

Nathan Herrero: I fell in love. Found myself wanting comfort. A life.

Logan: You walked away.

(Nathan gets up from the table.)

Nathan Herrero: They were trying to kill me Logan. If anyone should understand it's you. Look at you. Your lucky your still alive.

Logan: What about your daughter?

Nathan Herrero: I wasn't a very good father. My fault. I left her with what money I could. I didn't think she'd miss me all that much.

Logan: What do you want me to tell her?

Nathan Herrero: It would be easier for all concerned to leave me dead. I suppose but I would like to see her. If she's open to it.

(Scene cuts to Logans apartment. Max and Logan are in the living room talking.)

Max: So the bad news is what? He wasn't murdered? He fought the good fight and got a life. Makes sense to me.

Logan: Figures you'd relate to someone turning their backs on responsibility.

Max: Listen to yourself. Elena got her father back and your all who cares?

Logan: I didn't say that.

Max: Don't make this about yourself Logan. It isn't. You don't know what it is to be alone in the world. I do.

Logan: Now who's making this about themselves?

Max: You know, some guys are willing to rearrange their priorities when they find a girl who moves their furniture. In fact some guys are even looking for it.

(Max and Logan look at each other during an extended period of silence.)

Max:..or so I've heard.

(Max grabs her jacket from the couch and put it on.)

Max: I'm gonna go tell Elena about her father cause I think I may do a better job of making it sound like a good thing. Bye.

(Max walks out as Logan sit and ponders what Max has just said.)

(Scene cuts to Max riding her bike through some crowded streets. The scene then cuts to the interior of Elena's apartment. Max and Elena are sitting at a kitchen table looking over some old photos of Elena and her father.)

Elena: Wow, you know...I done such a good job of preparing myself for the worst but all this time he's been out there and I didn't know it. It's like some kind of miracle.

Max: Excited?

Elena: I don't know what I am. You know of course I'm glad he's alive but it's hard to believe that he could've just abandoned me.

Max: Look, it's pointless to try and figure out who left who and why. Who's more right or less wrong. Doesn't matter. The both of you get a second chance. Don't overthink it.

Elena: If you were me would..would you see him?

(Max looks at the photo of Nathan Herrero and a young Elena enjoying a birthday party.)

(Scene cuts briefly to a flashback of a young Max releasing and watching a red ballon drifting away.)

(End flashback.)

(Scene cuts back to Max at Elena's apartment. Elena is waitng for Max's answer.)

Max: In a heart beat.

(Elena smiles at Max.)

(Scene cuts to the bar "Crash". Original Cindy is drinking a Martini, standing in front of a jukebox as a nervous Sketchy paces. Original Cindy is all dressed up in a blue leather top and glitter underneath her eyes.)

Sketchy: Where is Max?

Original Cindy: She'll be here.

(Sketchy mumbles.)

Sketchy:..it's almost 7. I got till 10 o'clock. That's less than 3 hours.

Original Cindy: Who knew you were such a math whiz?

Sketchy: My life is at stake here Cindy!

Original Cindy: That females word is like stone.

(Original Cindy and Sketchy turn to sit at a table in time to see Max come down into the bar wearing a shimmering top and gold colored shorts.)

Original Cindy: What did I tell you?

(Original Cindy raises her hand and gesture Max over to their table.)

Original Cindy: Party over her girl! Damn! look at you floss'n

(Original Cindy gestures to Max to turn and Max obliges.)

Original Cindy: Mmm...ummm...mmmm...

(Max smiles and takes a seat across from Original Cindy.)

Max: What are you drinking?

(Original Cindy hands Max the glass so she can sample it.)

Original Cindy: Apple Martini's. The men are just gonna give us their money cause we're so hot.

(Max takes a sip and makes a displeased face.)

Sketchy: Guy's we should get going.

(Max returns Original Cindy her drink back.)

Max: Okay, okay. You got the bankroll?

(Sketchy reaches into his frnt shirt pocket and hands Max the cash.)

Sketchy: A hundred. From Natalie on the QT. That's all I could get.

Max: And you know where to meet us?

Sketchy: Yeah.

Max: Vamanos

(Max leaves. Orignal Cindy finishes her drink and leaves too. Sketchy checks his watch.)

Sketchy: 2 hours and 56 minutes.

(Scene cuts to outside the Odessa Social Club. Max and Original Cindy walk up to the door and Original Cindy knocks on it with a series of taps. Rafe slides open the peep hole and peers out to see both Max and Original Cindy all dressed up. They smile at Rafe.)

Orignal Cindy: Hi there! We just got off work.

Max: Dancing over at the cherry bomb.

Original Cindy: Big tip night.

Max: And a guy told us that this would be a really nice place to have some fun.

Original Cindy: And get our drink on.

Max: And make a little money playing that game with that ball that pins. I forgot what's it called.

(Rafe nods behind to Henry to open the door.)

(Scene cuts to inside the Odessa Social Club. Max and Orignal Cindy are escorted in by Rafe and Henry to the roulette table.)

Rafe: You girls gamble much?

Original Cindy: Last week this one bet she could shot her thong the farthest and won fifty bucks.

(Rafe and Henry leave Max and Original Cindy to the gambling. Max studies the roulette wheel.)

Original Cindy: So what's the dealio with this bitch?

Max: Dealio is...

(Scene cuts to Max using her enhanced vison to view the roulette wheel and ball in slow motion.)

(Scene cuts back to Max talking to Orignal Cindy in the Odessa Social Club.)

Max:...the wheel is turning at 3.2 revolutions per second.

Original Cindy: How do you know that?

Max: I just do. And the ball is rolling at a velocity of 4.4 meters a sec. The rest is physics.

(Original Cindy takes out some cash and places it on the table. A dealer changes the money into chips as Max continues to study the wheel.)

Max: Bet 11.

Original Cindy: You sure?

Max: Just do it.

(Orignal Cindy slides a stack of chips over to the number 11 on the roulette table.)

Original Cindy (to dealer) : Eleven.

(Max and Original Cindy watches and the ball bounce from 11 to 9.)

Dealer: 9 Red.

(Original Cindy sighs as the dealer clears the table and pays the winners.)

Max: I can tell you where it lands but I can't call the bounce.

(The dealer spins the ball again as Max studies the ball and wheel again.)

Max: 13 black.

(The ball lands on 13 black and stays there. Max and Orignal Cindy slap hands.)

(Scene cuts to Max and Orignal Cindy placing bets and winning on 7 red, 8 black, 34 red and 12 red as onlookers watched amazed. )

(Scen cuts to Original Cindy placing a bet on 17 and blowing a kiss to the dealer.)

Original Cindy: 17 black like me.

(The ball lands on 17 black. Max and Original Cindy smile. The dealer pushes he winnings toward them. Max spots Rafe and Henry looking at them winning.)

(Scene cuts to the dealer cashing out Max and Original Cindy. Rafe is talking to Henry nearby. Rafe hears towards them as Orignal Cindy picks up the money and counts.)

Original Cindy: We have 3 large.

Max: Another 12 to go and only an hour to go before Sketchy's toast.

(Original Cindy picks up the money and stuffs it into her top as Rafe comes over.)

Rafe: You ladies are doing pretty good. How much you up.

Original Cindy: About a cup size.

Max: But this wheel thing is a yawn.

Original Cindy: We're looking for some action.

(Rafe palce his arms around both Max and Original Cindy.)

Rafe: You girls like poker?

Max: Is that the game where you take your clothes off when you lose?

Rafe: Aahh...here we play for money. There's a game going on in the back.

Original Cindy: Wanna try?

(Max shakes her head.)

Rafe: Come on .... give it a shot. High stakes. You can win alot of dough in a hurry back there.

Max: What've we got to lose?

(Scene cuts to Sketchy standing on a street corner checking his watch.)

(Scene cuts to a back room of the Odessa Social Club. Max and Original Cindy are playing with Rafe, Henry and another man who is smoking a cigar at a poker table. Rafe is dealing the cards.)

Rafe: We like to take turns with the shuffle. Keeps the game honest.

(The whole table laughs.)

Rafe: So a little five card stud?

Original Cindy: Sounds like my kind of game.

(Original Cindy takes out the cash and places it on the table. Max and Rafe smile at each other.)

(Scene cuts to the hand being dealt. Max is looking over at Orignal Cindy's cards.)

Max (Original Cindy) : You should throw one of your 10's you've got too many.

(Original Cindy throws out a card.)

(Rafe sighs.)

Max: Oh, sorry. Is it okay if we help each other? I'm just remembering now. That this is that really confusing game with all those different cards which is why I always end up losing all my clothes on.

(Original Cindy giggles.)
