We will begin with a demonstration along Grandview Parkway, followed by a march through downtown Traverse City. Join us to voice your opposition to the War our government has been waging against its own people for over 60 years. Bring signs, drums, and creative vibrations.

The Drug War:
---is, in practice, the "endless war" spoken of by George Orwell as necessary to controlling the populace with fear.
--- is a racist war, spawned and fueled with racist propaganda, leading to the disproportionate incarceration of people of color.
--- provides a ready excuse for disastrous foreign policy in places such as Colombia, and for the erosion of our Constitutional protections at home.
--- has resulted in the rise of the prison industrial complex and the United States' status as the world's leading jailer.
--- orphans children through the incarceration of loving, competent parents.
--- prevents our farmers from being able to grow industrial hemp, an environmentally friendly crop which can provide high-quality green alternatives for plastic, synthetic fibers, tree-based paper, and fossil fuels, as well as delicious and nutritious foods for humans and animals.
--- denies a natural, safe and effective medicine to patients who need it.
--- imprisons sick and dying people who break federal law in desperation, even those who follow voter-approved state or local laws with regard to medical cannabis.
