Silverbolt was one of two Fuzors created shortly after the quantum surge hit Earth. With his pod and Quickstrike's pod damaged, two DNA patterns were etched into Silverbolt's form instead of just one. In this case, Silverbolt emerged as a winged wolf.
At first, Silverbolt was convinced by Megatron that he was in fact a Predacon. However, after being under Megatron's leadership for a short time, Silverbolt's chilalrous nature and sense of honor helped him learn that the Maximals were those that he belonged with.
Silverbolt's sense of honor and chivalry is not an act, it is real to the core of his Spark. He will not fight a weaker foe, take an unfair advantage in battle and will even save an enemy he feels is being mistreated.
As a warrior, Silverbolt is more than proficient. His wing missiles double as swords and he is not afraid to take on any foe, especially if he feels he is protecting somebody.
Silverbolt was instrumental in the first defeat of Predacon warrior Rampage. It was during this battle that he got to know and became infatuated with the Predacon Blackarachnia. Their romantic relationship continued in secret until Optimus Primal caught wind of it. Despite his objections, Silverbolt continued the relationship, believing that deep down inside, Blackarachnia's Spark was more Maximal than Predacon. His faith was partially rewarded when Blackarachnia stopped Megatron from altering the timeline when he discovered the Autobot ship Ark deep inside a volcano and tried to destroy the Autobot leader Optimus Prime.
Blackarachnia did not renounce her Predacon identity initially, but she did eventually become a full fledged Maximal, much to Silverbolt's joy.
