A much older character at 27, Laguna serves as a soldier for Galbadia Garden. He is basically the exact opposite of Squall; a man of heart, being a very optimistic and vigorous person who enjoys the confidence provided by those around him. Being a strong-willed character with amazing energy, he helps those who are weak and destroys those who seek to oppress; he truly has a compassion for the unfortunate.
Laguna has aspirations of becoming a journalist after serving in the army, and while he's a soldier in Galbadia he contributes articles to various magazines as a free-lance writer: "I want to be a journalist after I quit serving with Garden". By using his pen as a mighty instrument of justice, he hopes to one day stand strong against the evils of the world.
Squall and the rest of the part have many mysterious flashbacks, or dreams, in different parts of the game. We gradually learn more about Laguna as the game progresses...
