Inferno was created from a Maximal protoform that touched down safely on Earth's surface. It was Tarantulas who reprogrammed the protoform to be a Predacon, but his reprogramming caused an unexpected glitch in the stasis pod computers and Inferno's logic circuits. When Inferno emerged as a giant fire ant, he truly believed that he was an ant dedicated to serve the Royalty who he has decided is Predacon leader Megatron.
He thought of his stasis pod as his "colony", but when the Maximal Tigatron destroyed the pod to keep it from the Predacons, Inferno dedicated himself to destruction of all Maximals, while serving his Queen, Megatron of course!
Inferno is an extremely powerful warrior and one of the largest Predacons under Megatron's command. With his flight mode, blast cannon and sheer power, he could easily destroy any of the Predacons, including Megatron himself. But his blind loyalty prevents him from even conceiving of such an action.
Inferno has no interests, no hobbies and no motive for gaining power for himself. All that he is, and all that he does is to serve the Royalty. All else is irrelevant in his mind.
