Step 1: Kalatrina Plossen asks you to take a note to a spy in the Militia Hall in West Freeport. Take the note to Guard Ayle in the back of the Militia House. He's on the first floor, out in the back in an outside foyer area.
When you give the note to him, he asks you to give another note to his father. The text is a little misleading, but in the end, you are suppose to give the note to Groflah Steadirt. Groflah is on the top floor of the weapons shop in NFP.
Step 2: After giving the note to Groflah, he tells you to meet him in the Seafear's Roost tavern in EFP. Give the note to him there, and he will tell you the story of Zimel's blade.
Apparently, Zimel is now a prisoner of the Militia under the arena in the jails of West Freeport. When you ask the prisoner about Zimel, he wants "Bog 'n Goo, and Blanket too!"
What he means is he wants some Edible Goo, Bog juice, and his blanket.
Edible Goo and Bog Juice are made from Baking and brewing. Goo requires one rat ear, (NOT giant) and one Fire beetle eye, (NOT giant). Bog Juice requires a bottle, 1 (or 2) flask(s) of water, and 1 Snake Scales (Not giant)
In the process of this, hopefully a beggar named Tykar Renlin will spawn at the bar. Give him 4 Drom'ss champagne to receive Zimel's blanket. While you are meeting with Groflah in EFP, wait for Tykar to spawn too. Get the blanket, and return to Zimel with hi Bog, Goo, and Blanket.
Step 4: Zimel now give you a key to a strongbox in High Hold Keep. Take the key to the banker, and give it to her. She gives you a note with instructions that it is to be delivered to Brother Hayle in the dungeon of Paw.
Brother Hayle is located in the jails of paw. When you give the note to him, he says you must return to him:
Testamony of Truth This will get you a token of generosity. After you inform him that you have earned the token of generosity, Merko will ask you to get him a spider venom sack. Give him one and you will get a token of bravery along with some experience anf faction (again, even if he won't talk to you after level 9, if you give him the venom sack he should still give you the token). He will then tell you to give him both if you want to go further on. Give him both tokens and he will ask you to take the test of truth, which is killing the guard that appears in the sewers (again after level 9 he might not ask this, but the guard will still spawn). The guard is actually a female militia spy. Kill her quickly or she will run to the zone and be gone. If you kill her and take the token she has to Merko, you will recive the Testimony of Truth Scroll, proclaiming you are a Knight of Truth. This scroll is needed for the Soulfire quest, and is a no drop item.>
This note (The one he hands back to you after turning in the note from the bank) The hilt of Soulfire. You get this from the shadow knight troll in Mistmoore named Xicotl. Testimony of Truth Brilliant Sword of Faith (Get this by Killing Sir Lucan, and giving his Testimony to Valeron Dunshire) Lucan Strategy- Have someone train Lucan out to the newbie area away from the guards. Have someone NOT KOS to the Militia to hail Lucan so he stays in one spot. When the guards walk back to the city, kill Lucan. When you hand in the last set of items, MAKE SURE you turn in the note Hayle returned to you after giving him the note you got from the banker. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Fiery Avenger is the second step towards the Paladin Epic Weapon, the Fiery Defender. Prior to doing this, you must have obtained your Soulfire. Step 1: Obtain the Burnt and Frost Books from Dragons around Norrath. There is an NPC (Either in the Rathe Mts or in Qeynos) that will combine these books for you for 1000pp. The books will combine to make the Book of Scale. Next, go to the Ocean of Tears, and give the Oracle your Book of Scale. He will give you Miragul's Phylactery. Step 2: Go to the underwater caves of Everfrost, and find the lich of miragul. Have him charmed, and give him the phylactery. (Your faction MUST be indifferent or higher.) This will despawn the lich, and the live one will pop out. Kill him and get the Head of Miragul and Miragul's Robe. Step 3: Aquire a Ghoulbane and Soulfire. Go to the Plane of Air, look for Dirkog Steelhand. He can make Inte Akera spawn on the 4th island in PoA. These guys aren't on the same island, so you have to leave someone behind with Dirkog to spawn Inte when you hit isle 4. To get Dirkog to spawn Inte, pay him 500pp. Step 5: Give Inte Akera these items in this order: (1 at a time) Soulfire, and get a Blessing of Nobility. Ghoulbane, and get a Blessing of Sacrifice. After getting your two blessing, give him (All at once in the 4 trade boxes) Blessing of Sacrifice Blessing of Nobility The head of Miragul The robe of Miragul ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the final step towards the Paladin Epic Weapon, the Fiery Defender. Prior to doing this, you must have obtained your Fiery Avenger. Step 1: Go to Freeport, near the Monks guild. A peasant woman will spawn there sometimes, hail her and say "I will take it to him." Look for Joshua in the bakery nearby and give the water to him. You will get pure water in return. Next, go to the mines of Kaladim. Look for Jark, hail him and say "I will get your dinner." This will spawn his wife, Nella Stonebraids. She can be found in front of the Paladin/Cleric temple. Ask her "What Dinner?" She will give you Jark's dinner. Return that to him and get a pure crystal. Step 2: In no particular order... (Note: This step requires raid/group help) Go to the plane of hate. Look for the thought corruptor, and loot the tainted breastplate off it. Thought corruptors usually spawn right after a scorn banshee dies. Go to Nektulous. Look for Kirak Vil and kill him. He is about level 56 with a very high regen rate. You need about 2 groups of level 55+ to kill him. There is a strong Neriak faction hit, so tell the people who don't want faction hits to zone out before he dies. Loot the tainted shield when he is dead. Go to The Hole, and kill the Keeper of Tombs. Loot the tainted sword when the keeper of tombs has been slain. Step 3: These steps should be done in the order listed. Look for Elia the Pure in Felwithe, near the pond in the back. Give her ONLY the tainted shield. She will cleans it in the pure light she is in, and give you a gleaming shield in return. Next, go to Reklon Gnallen in the Quellious Temple of Erudin. Give him the Tainted Sword and Pure Water, and get the Gleaming Sword. Next give him the Tainted Breastplate and pure crystal, and get the Gleaming Breastplate. After having all 3 pieces purified, give Reklon Gnallen the Gleaming Sword, Shield, and Breastplate, and get a Mark Of Atonement. Step 4: Go to the plane of fear. Look for Irak Altil, he should be an indifferent npc to you. (If he's not, you will have to have an enchanter charm him). Give Irak your Mark of Atonement first. If it is not eaten or refused, give him your Fiery Avenger. If the mark is eaten or refused, something is wrong. If it is accepted, turn in your Fiery Avenger. He will thank you and give you your Fiery Defender.
