Legacy Farms is very excited to introduce to you the first saddle seat Andalusian in Hay!Land, Lieutenant. To prove how versatile Andalusians are, Lieutenant will be starting our saddle seat string. He's a fabulous stallion with beautiful movements and elaborate gaits. He's very expressive an always rides with such grace. We looked long and hard for the perfect country pleasure horse and finally found one all wrapped up in a handsome package and with a great personality to tie it off.
Show Record: (current as of June 10, 2003)

A huge thanks to Suzan Sommer of Sommer Ranch for graciously allowing me to use the pictures of her world renowned stud, Bravio.

About Saddleseat
Saddle Seat is a style of riding "gaited" horses in order to show them off to their greatest advantage. Saddle seat riding and the breeds associated with it were developed in the United States by plantation farmers; the horses and method of riding them had to be comfortable enough to spend hours in the saddle overseeing plantations, but also showy enough to take to town. Such breeds that show in saddleseat include Arabian, Morgan, National Show Horse, Saddlebred, Andalusian, and Tennessee Walking Horse.
Saddleseat is considered one of the English disciplines, although the saddle used in the sport is quite different from the hunt-seat or dressage saddle. The cutback, or show, saddle, is flatter than other English saddles and places the rider far behind the horses withers. The purpose of this saddle is to take the riders weight off the front of the horse, allowing the animal to show off his movement.
Country pleasure is the least high stepping of the saddleseat classes. This is what most Andalusians compete in. Next is English pleasure. Park has the highest stepping and most animation of the saddleseat classes.
