Riding Sidesaddle The rider should be balanced on the centerline of the horse. Her weight is maintained through the thigh of the right leg. The rider does not sit back on her seat bones. The right toe lies in a relaxed postion or points down for more security. Pointing the toe upward will lift the leg up and away from the saddle. For additional security the right foot can push against the horse's shoulder. The left leg is positioned in a normal riding length. Be careful not to shove this leg up tightly against the leaping pommel. This will cause the body to twist and come away from the saddle and the grip maintained by the right leg. |
