Agios Petros is a little village at the south side of the Ionian island Lefkas with 500-600 persons .It is located at 400 meters high at the slopes of a small mountain and although it is very close to the sea (4 kms) it can not been seen from the seaside because it had to be hidden from the sea pirates. The people (men and women) work on their own land and most of them are old aged as in the most Greek villages. The youngest people of the village work at the tourism services in the nearest village of Vassiliki. The old women wear traditional clothes but more simple than the original ones. There is only a primary school in the village. There are many old houses deserted since in the early 60' s many young people left the village for Australia and USA or Germany and Athens as immigrants. The village is more populated during the summer since many of the families who had left, spend their vacation time there, and some pensioners now have returned for permanent stay. There are only a few houses for rent during the summer.
The following photographs give an idea of how this village is.

A contradiction. This popular taverna of the village "Mpatzanakias" despite its "kits" image owns to the artist of the village, his name is Zois who is famous for his creative mind and his art crafts. Zois has also built a little church Ai Giannis Riganas close to the village by his own hands.!
