| Let's see if I still remember how to organize a biography these days, shall we? I was born Jason Lee Travis on October 28, 1979. I spent the whole 24 years of my life in northern New Jersey until making the move to Myrtle Beach in March of 2004. My parents, Ed Travis and Candy Ackerman, were and still are a very supportive part of my musical career to date. |
| I began playing part time with my father's band around the age of 14 (lord knows the band did not need me at age 14, but everyone has to start somewhere right?). I always sang, but at the same time managed to fiddle around with a few different instruments before settling down with my guitar. I think at some point or another I played a gig with that band on either the drums, bass or 6 string guitar. I remember Dad sometimes being in a jam, so I would try filling in with whatever he needed. Needless to say these were mostly low-key gigs where it was okay if I had to feel my way around certain songs. I cannot be thankful enough for having such a great opportunity at such a young age! |
| In the years to come I naturally met other musicians and began forming other bands to both play more often and develop a larger repetoire. In my mind this would secure more jobs and create the type of vicious cycle that I've only dreamed of living. Well, 10 years later and here I am in Myrtle Beach performing at the World Famous Bowery 6 nights a week from March through October!
