Back home!!

Hello!

I'm back home! Back in Holland again! I've been back for just more than 2 weeks so that I could relax a bit, adjust to the Dutch weather and do a testweek.

The testweek was quite hard. Of course I studies a lot, not only here in Holland but also in South Africa. We only had four days of school before the tests started, so Sasha and I had to work really hard to be able to do the tests.

Being back home is actually quite weird. It is all of a sudden back to normal! But I'll tell you first about saying goodbye, my flight and everything!

The South African Flag

Saying goodbye was the hardest thing to do! Thirsday, our last day at the school, we took hundreds of pictures and hugged everyone a million times and then again; we had to start over because it took so long! Finally we said goodbye, gave little clogs and cards to everyone, we could go home.

Before we went to the airport, I went to a ballroomdancing class. I went there with the intention that I would just watch, but as there were not enough girls, I had to dance! I'd never done that before so I was scary as hell but it was actually so much fun! The guys were really nice, espescially when they heard that I came from Holland. Everytime the first thing they asked was: "Drugs are legal there, h?" We had a lot of fun dancing and chatting and it was really nice! At the end I had to say goodbye there again to everyone and that took quite a while aswell!

Then immediately to the airport. There we waited a long time because Sasha and Melissa were a bit late.. and I started panicking because I didn't want to leave! I wanted to stay in South Africa for a much longer time, I couln't face the fact of probably never seeing anyone of them again!
Finally Sasha came. We checked in and we both had to repack our handluggage, only because mine was 2 kg too heavy, Sasha because hers was 9 kg too heavy! Eventually we went through the customs and we had to hurry not to miss our flight.

The flight was terrible aswell. We had a night flight and we sat next to an older man who couldn't easily get up. Sasha and I only went for a walk one time because of that. Our flight was eleven and a half hours so by the time we'd landed, I couldn't fit my feet into my boots anymore. I had to walk all the way through the airport on my socks! Another thing on the plane that made it a little less pleasant was that a man behind me didn't let me push my chair back. As a result, there was actually no place for me to sit, because the man in front of did push his chair back. I don't know how I did it, but I came out there alive!

Then, when I saw my parents, I ran up to them and I just started crying. I was so glad to see them again!
That afternoon, about seven friends came as a surprise! It was so nice! We talked about everything! What had happened in South Africa and what had happened in Holland.

The Dutch Flag

Now I'm already about 2 weeks home, as I said. Of course it is different, but it feels good to be home. I already picked up my usual way of life, but I also changed during the exchange. I think and hope that it's in a positive way, but I defenitely learned a lot!

Thank you for reading this blog, I hope you enjoyed it!

Love, Leo
