May 31, 2002 - This new scedule isn't the most terrible thing in the world, but I do feel underappreciated by my company. I'm expected to make this sacrifice for them, without compensation, and knowing that I could be laid-off if the contract was terminated. I guess my brother was right. If they ask, you tell your company you're loyal to them, but move on as soon as you get a better offer. They'd do the same to you. Now, I think that idea is for the case in which you don't have anything invested in your job. There are people in my company who are willing to make that sacrifice for that company because they consider this line of work to be their vocation or because they feel they will benefit from it in the end. I don't consider this line of work to be my vocation, so I don't have anything invested in theis company. I don't forsee getting any greater benfits from them in the future, either. If I was doing photography for this company, then I think I would. Even though I enjoy what I do now, I don't want to be doing this for the rest of my life, not to mention for the next 20 years. I'd much rather be doing photography. If I had to work for a company, but I was doing good photograohy work, I'd probably make more sacrifices because I'd be doing what I want to do and I'd be happy for the chance to do it. Remember that, kids. Make sure you make a career of something you enjoy doing. Don't just work at a place to pay the bills because any place will expect alot from you. If you're gonna be doing lotsa work and making sacrifices, it might as well be for something you want to do. May 21, 2002 - They done changed my hours at work!!! Didn't think they could do that to a salaried professional, did you? Well, apperantly they CAN if you don't belong to a union, are to insecure about your job, and are considered to be a young child instead of a skilled professional. I'm not bitter. I have to work on a rotating four-shift/24 hour basis; with no extra pay, no advancement potential, and no raises for anyone in the near future. I'm not bitter ;P May 20, 2002 - Happy Birtday Aunt Marti!! May 3, 2002 - Yikes, it's the third already! May always comes sooner than I expect it to. The year's gonna go by fast again. It keeps going faster and faster. Especially with the more stuff I wanna do. The more I say, "I wanna clean my house" or "I wanna start painting again" the less time I get to do those things, so they don't get done. Yet, I used to spend Summers at home from school when I was younger and I just sat inside or in the backyard, and the day seemed to drag on forever. | ||
