Gift

I give you a gift,
Of happiness and hope,
Of both kindness and love.
This gift I give to you,
Is part of me,
Something I can’t just give away.
A gift of friendship,
Would buy something worth having,
A prized possession no one else can take.
My gift is special,
For there is only one,
And it’s yours should you choose to take it.
You gave me a gift once,
And I still keep it close to my heart,
For it is part of us.
This gift I give to you,
Cannot be given back,
But it can be replaced with another.
Gifts come in many forms,
Some times tangible,
Some times it is merely a suggestion.
But my gift to you,
Cannot be described,
For even I have not seen it.
The gift of love I give,
To you and only you,
Is that of my heart.
