Prologue
"The Meeting"
A cool wind blew through the new spring leaves. A single chirp of a bird in flight could be heard in this slow restless wind. The light green grass looked like it was dancing to an unheard beat. All seemed to be in a drowsy daze. Bright pink petals fall to the ground just to be thrown back up by the wind. A red leaf from the tree falls, tilting this way and that making light reflect off of it in a kaleidoscope of colors across the face of an unconscious girl. The girl laid still, her chest moving up and down in a slow rhythm. She laid on her back, one arm laid above her head while the other was beneath her. Her waist long hair laid in a sprawl around her. The girls elvish ears twitched at the sound of a bird passing overhead. She was wearing a frayed kimono type shirt. The shirt was made of a black net material and had a black tank top attached underneath. A long black spotted skirt that went to her feet had slits on either side and barely showed the tanned flesh of her legs.
A slight hint of a smile played at her lips. It disappeared and was replaced by a frown. The warm sweet smell of cherry blossoms filled the equally warm air. The wind brought the feel that it would soon be hot. The sound of footsteps padding across the grass drug her to near consciousness. The wind blew across her face, cooling the fever that still raged there. Voices floated into her ears, but it took a minute for her to register the meaning of the words.
"I can't believe she left." a male voice stated with surprise in the statement.
"She had no choice, and besides she did say she'd be back. Man Trunks people would think she was married to you and not me the way you act sometimes." Another male voice replied with annoyance.
"How could you say that? You two are my best friends!" Trunks pouted. A sudden gust of wind announced a new arrival.
"Have either of you seen Leela ? Her pl dropped to nothing just as Leeli went through the portal. " A new voice asked the two others.
"Nope...strange she wanted to say goodbye..." The second voice replied with worry.
"Get going then...The others need you home."The new voice barked at the them. They left in another rush of wind. Leela felt something pass over her mind and soon found strong arms cradling her. She felt like a baby being so helpless but she could not help that now.
"Here eat this" The voice was ruff and demanding, but very familiar. A hand opened her mouth gently and placed a Zana bean on her tongue. She swallowed it with the last of her strength. A split second later she opened her eyes and blinked at the person supporting her.
"Da?" The namekian nodded and helped her sit up as she shook her head to get rid of the cotton in her brain.
"Good...now what happened? You were supposed to be at the lookout." He reprimanded his daughter.
"I just..."she tried to figure out a rebut to the chiding but couldn't and knew he didn't ask he commanded her to answer. "All I
remember is that...I dropped Marron off with Juuhachi and Krillen at Kame house after we went shopping...all I saw was someone with
blond hair hit me...I didn't see him...and I guess I blacked out." She stammered knowing it didn't sound realistic even to her. She had
dropped Marron off at Roshi's right after shopping so she could go see her sister before she left. She had been in a hurry so she
wouldn't miss her, she wanted to see her sister go through the very first stabilized portal. Mrs. V.Briefs, or Bulma as most called her by
her first name, had been working on a portal stabilizer for over three years now. Leela was fifteen and a year younger then her sister.
She admired, envied and adored Leeli. Since her father only wanted them to train, and her mother could care less as to the whereabouts
of her two offspring. Kana was always doing something or other on the lookout and never noticed anyone or the going ons. So the only
ones Leela had to look up to were Leeli, her mother-in-law Chichi, Mrs. V.Briefs, and Juuhachigou. Or at least the only female ones. Her
sister as of late had been tied up with the stabilizer preparations.
Leeli was the family favorite between the two. Leeli was strong, powerful, smart and loved to train. She usually trained with Gohan the
older son of Goku, who just so happened to be their brother now, well brother-in-law anyway. Leeli had married Goten his younger and in
Leela's opinion sillier brother. She never told anyone that opinion because he may of been silly but he was fun to be around. Everyone
could tell that Piccalo liked Gohan more then his own kids but no one ever spoke up and the girls never really cared. They had considered
him a brother even before Leeli and Goten got married. Leela sat there feeling ashamed at having been beaten so easily and by a foe she didn't even know. She knew her father was
disappointed in her, so she sat quietly and watched as her father went over and talked to a couple of guys that had just landed. Leela
could now tell who they were and lowered her head to hide her reddened checks. She felt so humiliated now that she lowered her head a
little more so that her hair fell into her face. Her namekian ears twitched as the words from their conversation floated to her. "What was it?" Piccalo asked in a low voice, but Leela heard anyway. "We don't know, all we saw was the back of his head." Goten replied baffled. "Ee...It just disappeared. The weird thing is that it had long blond hair so I though it was a girl." Trunks smiled at his weak spot. Leela
leaned foreword to listen better with her head still bowed and hair covering her face. 'Trunks.....you would think of nothing but girls when faced with danger.' She thought as she brushed back the hair in her face with a
single fluid motion from her right hand, combing it back with her fingers as she did so. "My hair is way to long." she whispered as she watched Goten, then Trunks and finally Piccalo lift off into the air. "Aloft un-winged, seen........then unseen." She twisted the words of one of her favorite quotes and sighed as she slowly got to her feet. She
was still a little disoriented by unfamiliar sights until she remembered she must be by Goku's house. She turned slightly to look behind
her and sure enough there was his house about a half mile away. She hurriedly dusted herself off and flew to the nearby mountains. <<Dad I'll be home in a little while.>> She sent a mental message to her father after thinking a moment. Her father was the only one
that knew she had this ability and never spoke of it to anyone else. He had said that it might come in handy in a battle someday, and
should not tell anyone so the enemy would never learn of it. Despite what her parents were like she still loved them dearly. She just
didn't really show any emotion to many people. Leela realized she must have gotten it from both her parents since both were that way to
everyone. Leela flew to a small door in a mountain face and took out the butterfly key from around her neck. The door and key were
titanium steel enforced with a new metal that had been recently discovered. The new metal could withstand any ki blast you throw at it
and not even get dented. She opened the door with a code, key and neural scan. No one would be able to copy the last one perfectly so it was an ideal lock to
choose. The key was in the shape of a tiger butterfly with diamonds embedded for its eyes and on the tips of its wings. Whenever Leela
looked at it, the butterfly part seemed only half of a whole. The other half missing somehow. She walked though the door and into a
cave that held a small capsule home. It was domed shaped like Cap. Corp. House only a lot smaller. It had taken months of hard work the
past year to rake up enough money for it. She walked to the door and went inside. Walking to the living room and laying down on the couch, she never noticed the blinking light on her answering machine saying that
someone had left a message. She feel asleep, fear regret and humiliation forgotten in the land of nod. When Leela finally did wake up they all came flooding back into her mind, as fresh as the day before. She got back up and went into the
bathroom to change and took a quick shower to wash away the smell of humiliation. A few minutes she walked into the kitchen and
started making rice balls. Just as she was about to taken them out of the pan the phone rang. She flipped them onto a plate and
answered the vid. phone. Also a new invention by Cap. Corp. , but it would not bring them back to their former glory. Her mouth dropped
at seeing Bulma looking so apprehensive. "Leela?!Oh finally!" Bulma looked a little relieved. "Hi Bulma, did you need something?" She asked as she took a bit from one of the rice balls. "Yes actually." Dr. Briefs came into view with a black cat on his shoulder. "Bulma and I were wondering if you'd be kind as to stop by the
lab this afternoon." Leela was puzzled when he said afternoon and realized she had slept a whole day and not noticed. "Um ok I guess, is it of importance?" She asked a few seconds later. "We're not sure, we just would like you to look over these schematics." Bulma was the first to answer this time. Leela had been tested
and found to be above normal intelligence wise. Not a whole lot more like Einstein or them, but smarter then your average fifteen year
old. She knew a lot about computers and Bulma would sometimes ask her for a second opinion. "Ok I'm on my way then." She smiled and politely closed the link. She put the rest of the rice balls into a paper towel and grabbed the
keys by the stove. Leela picked up a capsule box and took out the light pink one that had a #4 on it. She ran out the door and opened the
outer door. "Guess its back to work for me." She sighed jumped off and landed on the ground below, pushing the top of the capsule and throwing as
she fell. It erupted in a could of smoke just as she landed. When the smoke cleared a moment later a red convertible hover car stud in
its place. A few minutes later she arrived at Cap. Corp. House. Bulma to her surprise was waiting for her. "You got her fast." She smiled "Hey Mrs. B What did you need me for?" Leela slid onto the door of the car and sat there crossed legged. The now grounded hover car
was a gift she had gotten from the V.Briefs when she graduated collage a couple of months ago. "Well for one thing I can tell you take pride in that car." Bulma laughed slightly. When they had given it to her it still needed lots of
work done to it, and didn't look good., but hours of working on it with Bulma made it look like it had just been taken off the car lot. "That I most certainly do." Leela replied with a grin, it was usually guys that liked to show off their cars not girls. "Come inside and I'll show you why I called." Bulma smiled and lead the way into the house. Leela jumped off the car door and fallowed
close behind. They passed the gravity room and fallowed a small corridor to a large lab. That was also an observatory. Dr. Briefs was at
the telescope muttering to his cat and taking notes. "Ah, Leela, so good of you to come." He smiled and joined them at the computer. "As you can see, we put a bug on Leeli before she left to see what kind of changes in the environmental stability, and both physical and
mental changes as well." Dr. Briefs showed the plans and layouts of the little bug to her. It showed every little detail of the chips all the way down to the constructional skeleton. The bug itself was just like the one Dr. Gero
had used with Goku, only this one was a lot more complex then his older model. "Now what we found was that at certain times the portal had..oh....say a disrupting effect on the DM-100" He paused and brought up
the signal for her to see then went on. "I think it might even short out if the disrupting continues." He finished as he pulled up a new set
of schematics from the data. The hard-drive was loaded with information that would make anyone's head spin. "That makes sense, although a change in the neural-net processor and cybernetic neurons to the processor should stop the disrupting
effect." Leela replied as she took a closer look at the screen. "The animatronics could use some tinkering with to." Bulma stated as she moved the mouse to show what she meant. "You know dad, you
really should get a faster modem. Yours is just to slow." Dr. Briefs coughed at that remark. "Yes, yes quiet right." Dr. Briefs replied and scratched his head. Leela laughed with Bulma as Dr. Briefs walked off for some notes he
had taken earlier. "Ok, so why was I needed for this?" Leela sat down at the computer and pointed to it. "Well I'm gonna need help with this new upgrade, and I though you would like to help. Besides you're a great help to me when you come
around. " Bulma replied with a smile. "Well I guess I could since I don't have anything else to do." Leela smiled and stretched. "Lets get started then shall we?" Bulma pulled up a chair and both started to work on the upgrade. A few hours later, they stopped for a
short breather, having went non-stop on the new challenge. "Hey Mom! You almost done?" Trunks asked as he came walking into the lab. Leela went back to typing up the last of the program. He
stopped and stared at her, she didn't notice until it was totally quiet. She rubbed her ears which had begun to ring when she finally
looked around. Bulma had left, Dr. Briefs was still looking for the misplaced notes. She turned her head the other way and noticed
Trunks. "I didn't know you worked with computers, Kit." He used the pet name everyone called her once in a while. "That just shows how much you never notice anything." Leela replied and turned back to the computer with a smirk. Trunks smiled and
sat down next to her. "What are you doing?" He asked as he looked at the screen. "Oh just rerouting the cybernetic system of the new DM-200, we made some improvements on the old 100." Leela stated in an amused
tone as she typed in the last few words and sat back in the chair. "There..." yawns and stretches for a second, "finally finished." She
smiled and crossed her arms over her chest. "How long did it take you guys to do that?" Trunks asked as he leaned foreword to look at the modifications. "About...three hours and seven minutes." Bulma replied as she walked in and sat down next to the other two. "Well nice talking with ya Kit, but I gotta go." He smiled and got up. "Ditto." Leela smiled back as he left. "I need to get going Bulma, thanks for calling" She smiled at Bulma and got up. "Oh here." Bulma handed her a star shaped pendent. "What is it?" She asked and gingerly took it. "A new portal stabilizer." Bulma answered with a grin. "Why are you giving it to me?" Leela gasped. "Well You are the one to go after your sister. So you will also be equipped with the DM-200 to see if our calculations were correct."
Bulma started looking through her desk drawers, Leela watched dumfounded. "Thank you Bulma." Leela finally spoke, Bulma turned and smiled. "No problem Kit, just make sure to take care of yourself." Bulma gave her a quick hug before Leela left. Leela ran the front steps and
out to her hover car. Another jump landed her in the driver's seat. When she got home she couldn't do anything but contemplate on the
new situation. Being with her sister would be great, and maybe even new friends. She would have a chance to go through the dimension
portal just as Leeli had. She put the star pendent on behind the key, and waited for the next day.
