Objectives: On completion of this module students should be able to: recognise the role played by speech and image processing in the deployment of artificially intelligent systems in human environments; understand the process of speech and image acquisition by biological and man-made devices; comprehend the principles behind, and applications of, modern techniques for the manipulation, enhancement and analysis of digital speech and image data; combine these techniques in sensible ways to meet the needs of simple applications.
