Lee's Road to Recovery
Entry for Sunday August 6, 2006
Language - we all never are thankful for being able to say hello, good-bye - I want, I would like - this is natural - we learned how to speak over years, but we were small and really did not know what we wanted - but just sit back and close your eyes and imagine the next person walking in to tell you something - you want a cheese burger and they bring you back a hamburger all the way and you are not able to remove what you do not want on your sandwich - this pretty much describes what is now going on in our lives - Lee knows what he wants and says inside - but can not get it out - I thank God daily that he still has a since of humor, and has the ability to laugh - but then there are the times I see heart break from his inability to say  tea and not lemonade - so time is what we have and a new beginning - we take each and every moment and make them special - you can not survive thinking only what we did not do - so it may be just a thumbs up or a yes or a sparkle on his face to know you did what he wanted -  or maybe just part - but you do not know as if he justs wants a cheese burger and he gets it all the way - not a word does he say - so just take today and be thankful for a smile - Lee was very excited for the visit from Sal and Liz - he would not say their names - but he was glad they came to see him - we all are very excited about Tuesday - as then we will learn about our projected discharge date - as all are ready for Tifton - yes, we miss our small little town and we can not wait to return - I can tell that all works better when we are all together -  Lee just be and that is all I can ask for - you know the song you sang to me - "I don't want to be - Mom if I can't be Lee" - so Lee now just be. . . love mom
