Lee's Road to Recovery
Entry for Thursday June 15, 2006
We arrive at Shepherds at a little after 8:00am - you are dressed and ready to go to gym - breakfast - you do not eat - but you must to get well - go back to your room and they "force" ensure through your feeding tube - time for PT - oh to see you stand  - not by yourself - but that really does not matter - your left is still "asleep"(my terms) - but the PT puts your left leg in between hers and another holds you by a waist belt - you are  leaning on  something with wheels - and for you to walk down the hall  - hey this is great - to your room wash your face then on the Speech - on cognitive speech - you say yes knod no - say no and knod yes - time Lee - time - you can not answer simple questions - do you have a brother?? no - then yes, do you have a dog?  no, no - were you in a wreck?? no - do not know what?? as you look at you foot, hand - glance at me and dad - we do not answer - then is OT - move left arm, hand with right - you are not feeling good - now lunch time - they remove your treck right before lunch - will heal within a couple of days - you eat a couple of bites of green beans - tea  - that all will come as you have really only been "awake" just a few days - and then they say some days you are still not Lee - oh how I wish I could see you dance around and sing "I don't want to be - Mom - unless I'm Lee" and that is what keeps me going - day by day - as I know and see my singing Lee - the hugs, eye looks - it is still you and will always be you - as you see - You have a story to tell - the whole world - and to show everyone that miracles do happen everyday - and you are that - mom
