Entry for Wednesday August 16, 2006
It felt so great to walk in and see you sleeping so sound - Kim (RN) said you had a good night - just very tired - so we eased out and let you sleep - back to the ICU Blue waiting room - no windows, no TV - they call us around 10:30 am and we go straight back - get your breakfast ready - still no fever, and an appetite than would make most think you had "worms" - but you love your food - you ate all of your lunch as well - and could not wait for the "Oreo" ice-cream - you will be going out of ICU to the 5th floor later - and you can not wait - as no more monitors, blood pressure cuffs - today they removed the bandage on your head - you were a little up set but not as bad as last night - It just breaks my heart to see you cry - the best thing that happened today - (we both almost got in trouble) - after you ate all your supper - dad went and got you spaghetti - we were laughing and playing - you kept putting a noodle on your face - and of course I said let's leave one on your face and just see how long it would take dad to "see" it - well we both got to laughing and you almost choked - then we started laughing again - because I said keep on doing that and there will be one hanging out your nose - wrong thing - it tickled you so - that the nurse came and stopped out side your door to make sure we were fine - well then there is dad - banging on the window - and you start laughing - as I tell him security in coming to get the old man being a "peeping tom" at the hospital - the smiles and laughs are worth the tears of yesterday - so let's just all get up this little hill and get back to some type of life out of this hospital world - we have to and will have to learn how to do the iv's - so do not worry - we will all work this out - at least it will not have to be changed - you can shower - and it will only take 1-1/2 hours every 12 hours - so . .this is no problem - I am better today - just a little hump yesterday- and just being a "mom" - you see moms like to know what is going on - and you are just a living miracle - and the doctors just really do not know - but you do - you bring happiness to all that enter your room and everyone says so - they all leave with a smile - so just keep it up Lee - mom is doing this for you - but you can and will finish the story - love mom 2006-08-17 00:51:40 GMT
