American Dulcimers
I first learned of Jerry Meador on Ebay (user ID jmeador3). He sells his dulcimers there frequently.  I also visited his website, Off the Beaten Path.  We thought we'd visit his shop in Pigeon Forge Tennessee this summer but we couldn't find the cute little bridge in the woods shown on his site.  It must have been behind the strip mall where his shop is located.
I bought this dulcimer from Jerry on Ebay.  The standard dulcimer has a plywood back.  I paid an additional $50 for a solid walnut back.
Jerry's dulcimers have a sticker on the head.
Oh look.  My poor little dulcimer must have gotten hurt in Jerry's shop while it was being made.  The head had to be patched on the back and side.  The dark wood is the patch. I would think it would be easier to use a new block of wood rather than putting 2 patches on but I don't know a darn thing about making instruments so what do I know?
There was some dried glue in different places too.  I always thought Norm on "New Yankee Workshop" wiped the excess glue off with a damp cloth.  I guess it has to stay on a dulcimer for some reason.
You can visit Jerry's site by clicking here.
I've only got 2 words of advice for anyone considering the purchase of an American Dulcimer.  Caveat emptor.
