The Magnificent Seven

High Guard

Character Overview

Chris Larabee
Captain. His wife and son died during the war in a Nietzschean attack. This caused him to break down, later on he went into the spy business, often going on suicidal missions. Buck tried to keep him out of the worst, temporarily lost contact and later on caught up again with Chris. They did their last few mission together, but Chris only recovered slowly from the devastating blow. Chris has a strict code of honour, which he follows through. However, his code doesn't involve Nietzscheans.

Buck Wilmington
1st officer, Commander. He's the closest and oldest friend of Chris. Helped him through the time after they woke up Easy going by character, he tries to keep Chris and JD out of trouble, but he has a very weak spot for females, which regularly causes some upheaval in the ports and outposts they are visiting.

JD Dunne
Crewman and an excellent pilot. A relative to Larabee's superior, Admiral Travis, he was rescued by Chris and Buck after his ship got captured by Nietzscheans. He survived several months as Nietzschean prisoner, but his mother died from the ordeal shortly before they were freed. Admires Chris and follows Buck around.

Ship: Mary of Medici
Scout Vessel, AI, official designation Shining Path to Truth and Knowledge AI model FRE 534, serial number LHS-37-819, programmed and installed at the Shining Path to Truth and Knowledge Institute on Sparborth IV.
The Mary of Medici is named after the French Queen Mary of Medici (AD1573-1642). She is a slip-stream capable stealth scout vessel and equipped with various weapons and stealth devices. She has two decks, can hold a crew of up to ten people, is capable to land on planets with an atmosphere and is equipped with five stasis pods which are located in the lower deck. The crew usually just calls her Mary.

Nathan Jackson
Former Nietzschean slave, escaped during an attack of another clan. During the flight, he met Josiah. Now, the two are travelling the universe. Nathan learned a lot about medicine and is an excellent fighter.

Josiah Sanchez
Nietzschean. Josiah was born to Eliah out of Jalena from the Corvus-Pyxis pride. He turned his back on the Nietzschean way of life and became something of a priest. However, turning the other cheek soon proved to be too much for him. He quit the order, but stayed a more or less peaceful person. As a sign of his peacefulness, he wears his spikes under the leather protection. He doesn't make a great deal out of the fact that he's Nietzschean, but you don't want to cross him if you're smart.

Ship: Nightingale
semi-intelligent ship, no AI
Nathan and Josiah own the slip-stream capable flying hospital Nightingale, named after Florence Nightingale. It's a three deck, small, bulky ship, not the fastest, and more of a flying rust bucket than a fancy ship from the outside. Still, the Nightingale has a remarkable medical technology aboard, some of which is based on Commonwealth standards long lost. She can't land on planets with an atmosphere.

Vin Tanner
Bounty hunter with a price on his head. Vin grew up on one of the Rim-Line farming outposts. He's travelling from world to world to escape his hunters and does whatever he has to do to survive. He has a code of honour and pride in his name. He wants to clear up his name one day, but so far he hasn't had much of a chance, since evidence was faked. Excellent shooter, pilot and navigator.

Ship: Texas
combat fighter, semi-intelligent, no AI
The Texas is a fast, slip-stream capable agile combat fighter that provides enough space to have a single person live comfortably. Equipped with various gadgets, the Texas is a top weapon for both bringing in bounties as well as standing up in combat. She's equipped to land on planets with an atmosphere in emergency situations, though she might suffer considerable damages.

Ezra Standish
Raised in the Southern Cross Region by a con woman as mother, he became the perfect cheat and gambler. Wears Nietzschean cloths with false spikes most of the time as part of a con. He's very agile and cheats his way out of situations. Ezra acts for his own best interest and doesn't hesitate to cheat on his friends if it gives him an advantage. He and Chris are barely on speaking terms, but they start to grow a mutual respect over time. Ezra signed up for 6 months as a regular crew member of the Mary after he conned himself into believing that Chris would space him for trying to steal the ship.
