(this is a song i wrote for my father before he passed away on april 20, 2003. i wrote it after he had been missing for almost 2 years, holed up in wichita, ks, i later found out. this is a song that means more to me than just opening old wounds and memories of my father. it is for everyone who has lost someone in their lives and wants them back-- but knows that can never be the case. the nine days reference is to norse mythology, odin hanging from the tree of knowledge, a spear piercing his side. the title references fight club, my father, my model for god. he was, is and will always be as such. now, he is dead, taken from this world by cancer.) |
