{song explanation}
( the donner party was a group of pioneers who were traveling west and trapped by a blizzard in a pass in utah. they were forced to consume each other to stay alive. this cannibalism reminded me of my family life... reminded me of what it was like to live in my house for my entire life as far back as i can remember. we don't need to put each other down to build ourselves up, kids. we can build each other up, bolster one another's confidence, thereby increasing our own. don't demonize your friends and family, don't call your brother a faggot or a fat fuck, because it doesn't help anything, and it hurts more than you know. these derogatory terms we use so loosely to tear someone else down and build each other up. quite simply put, this is about the cannibalistic warfare i used to call family life.)
