(the chinese who immigrated here to the united states are notorious for having worked like dogs to build the railroads out west to the frontier. it was a shit job that no one wanted, but along with other immigrant groups like the irish, they did what they had to do to provide for themselves and their families. this song is in part a song about work ethic. it is partially about the high regard in which beauty is held in society over the hard work and struggle, the moral integrity, of the every day worker. they worked for themselves and their families and got by... do not rely on the government, the tax moneys, to take care of you, or that pretty face.) |
