John Bonham started playing on pots and pans from the time he was a baby. After he got his first drum kit he played in several bands, one of which was The Band Of Joy with Robert Plant. When Jimmy Page saw John play he had to have him as drummer for Led Zeppelin. John was a bit reluctant because he had a regular paying job. Robert Plant convinced him to join Led Zeppelin.
With his machine gun bass drum and tight triplets he established himself as Rock's greatest Drummer. His exploits on tour, on stage and off are things of legend. His untimely death in 1980 was the end of Led Zeppelin but he and their spirit live on.
