James Patrick Page

January 9, 1944

Jimmy Page founded Led Zeppelin after several years of session work and finally with the Yardbirds. He had several ideas for a lineup but most of the musicians had other engagements.

He was an innovator and his style was all his own. His leads were sharp and clean and his rhythms and compositions are what made Zeppelin songs classics. His versatility led to him using a slide in In My Time Of Dying, using a violin bow in Dazed and Confused and Kashmir, and special effects in Whole Lotta Love.

His guitar work has influenced many as evidenced in music shops with signs that warn guitarists who wish to show their ability "NO STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" .
