by Mike Monroe
Exercise:

Write a dramatic monologue about some one you aren't.  They can be a different sex, from a different culture, from a different time period, etc.
My choice:
A Cave Woman
What a Cave Woman Would Say if She Could Talk

A Dramatic Monologue

I live in big hole in big rock
I hide in there while big fire in sky burn ground
little ones run around and fight and play with stone
I watch them make sure they no ouch
man sat around and watched animals
man waited for me to gather food
man leave when big fire in sky gone
make other little ones with other woman
man not want be together or watch little ones
just want make more little ones
me no understand
man no make me bend mouth
I bash him on head with big stick
now I watch little ones and keep safe
and try make bend their mouths
when man or woman or beast come
I bash with big stick
I get water after big fire in sky gone
because white light not burn skin
I get water for little ones
little ones my life
little ones everything
I want little ones get big and strong
like other man and woman
I bend mouth watching little ones get big
then I fall apart and become white sticks and stones
