Zelda's Inferno Poems
by Mike Monroe

My words:

ride, tide

glow, slow
overalls, balls
drive, thrive
The Wanderer

he was standing on the highway waiting for a ride
standing on the cliff's edge listening to the breeze
wearing a black tattered shirt and wishing he could drive
standing below the late afternoon sun's glow
wondering why the cars were going by so slow
when with speed and danger he felt that he could thrive
hugging the cliff edge and dodging kids with balls
trying to find a good place and day to seize
standing on the cliff's edge listening to the tide
