| An Appalachian Campsite in Autumn A sea of yellow, orange, and brown covers the rolling Appalachians. A highway weaves through the mountains like a gargantuan black snake as cars and trucks buzz to their destinations. Trees surround a small meadow where campers have set up a temporary home. The blue tent stands in the center surrounded by ground cluttered with brown, dead leaves. A deer is startled and looks to its rear with headlight-like eyes. It runs away trampling twigs. A squirrel scurries up a tree trunk grasping the grey bark as a tiny ant wrestles with an apple crumb. |
