| Reaffirmation I. white hall day after day same dusty floor same grey ceiling white hall day after day same dusty floor kicking dust up in tiny clouds stale air muffled stomp white hall day after day cobwebs dangling spiders scuttling through the dust same grey ceiling slowly cracking walls windows to rainy sky same grey ceiling same dusty floor slowly cracking walls a fine layer of dust on concrete a basement corridor in cold ground white hall day after day same dusty floor same grey ceiling white hall day after day slowly cracking walls II. first a spark in darkness faint yellow light burning steady shimmering a golden shadow dance on blank walls a gentle brushing breeze flames grow brighter temperature grows warmer only slightly flames grow brighter and the room flashes fire truck red fire truck red and burning hot like atomic explosion for a split second tapping becomes stomping becomes pounding becomes crash flames blazing rage unheavenly blissful anger veins popping blood boiling hair standing on end jumping out of a comfortable recliner and glaring with bulging eyes running down the corridor and crashing through the wall sunny splendor and veins burning fire truck red and stifling heat of blazing sunlight darkness open eyes and bleeding ears paper slicing like razors lemon juice in paper cuts rotten egg stuck under tongue peanut butter with sardines and pickles fire (Continued) Back to Index E-mail the Poet |
