Lec Zorn
Political/Social Resources

Why do I have this section in my page? That's a good question that's probably on the minds of many of my fans/visitors and I want to answer comprehensively.

Since the early '90s, I have had a strong interest in political/social issues and over the years, I have continued to develop some strong convictions on a wide variety of important issues. I realize that your views might be different than mine. And that's fine. Anytime two people agree on everything, only one person is doing the thinking.

And I recognize that many different factors are involved in the forming of one's views. Because we are all so different to begin with and have such diverse cultural, religious, social, familial and many other experiences, it's no wonder that people's opinions vary so much. My many friends around the world have a wide range of ideologies.

I do not resent people whose views differ from mine. I respect them as long as they can support their views and as long as they are willing to listen to mine. I've had many discussions in which others and I have shared opposing views with each other, even on such volatile issues as abortion, without any flaring of tempers. And though we don't always end up agreeing, we at least end up respecting each other. I wish that all people handled differences like that. In short, I don't object to people disagreeing with me but I do object to closed mindedness.

I realize that as an entertainer, I'm taking a risk of alienating fans by expressing my political views. But I feel compelled to take that risk because I'm very passionate about what I believe and yet my philosophy - libertarianism - is almost completely ignored by the media. Furthermore, the entertainment industry is almost completely dominated by left wingers. And the Republicans and Democrats - or, as I say, the Republicrats - combine with the media to cripple other political movements. So it's very important that those of us on the outside show people that there ARE positive alternatives.

Below are banners that are linked to sites from individuals and organizations whose philosophies I support 100% or at least close to it. I also added a couple at the bottom to show that I have a sense of humor, too! I want people to love my music, which is probably what will draw most of this page's visitors. But I hope that while visiting this page at least some people will visit the below links with an open mind.

"I'm just stating my views, now you can choose."

Peace.
