Solidbody-Electric
This instrument was designed for both function and, I think, beauty.  I wanted an instrument that could lean against a table without falling over and could stay plugged into the amp without the cord being in the way.  The shape of the body next to the player helps position the fretboard over the left knee.  (I call it a "hip recess", my wife calls it a "gut cut".)  The instrument is sized to allow easy reach of the controls and good playing position.  It is built with a "neckthrough" design for maximum rigidity and with more stability from the laminated neck and a two-way adjustable stainless steel truss rod to help fight time and Mother Nature.  The laminated neck also gives more decorative possibilities by using contrasting woods (Stripes).  The "neck" on my dulcimers is because the excess body is not needed on a pure electric and would only add extra weight and bulk. (OK, so it aint traditional).  Notice that the strap buttons are off center to give more control over position and stability on the lap and the string anchors are recessed so they won't catch on carpet, etc.  The solidbody concept gives much more freedom of design to the shape of an instrument and the rigidity gives maximum sustain.
