The Mothership
My Baby, My Home.  I sold Vacilando around noon on Thursday, April 13th, and then flew to Singapore about four hours later.   I bought this 1982 Toyota Hiace at the end of June '05, and it was my home for almost 10 months.  I wanted something comfortable, that I could drive Australia in as well as live in, and accommadate others whom I might meet along the Road.  Vacilando was all that and more.  I had a dozen other passengers along the way, the most being six at one time.  I loved Vacilando, it was one of the best parts of Australia.

Road Trips
Much of the time, I tend to live out of the van, for a stretch of time, a week here, a week there.  But I've also done some roadtrips in Vacilando.  Below is a list of the Road trips that I've taken.
Great Ocean Road
This was the first road trip and the initial shakedown of Vacilando.  It was a three day, solo road trip as I did a loop out of Melbourne.  I didn't get great weather, and I managed to get Vacilando bogged one night, but it was a lot of fun.
Melbourne to Sydney
I met Lucille in Melbourne and we planned for a week to drive up to Sydney.  This was my first taste of road tripping with a stranger.  Some things were great about it, some things could have gone better.
Sydney to Byron Bay
This was the big one.  I loaded Vacilando with five strangers, and headed up the coast.  It lasted two weeks, and was unforgettable.  During this time, we camped every night at free campsites and really took in the Beauty of New South Wales.
Agnes Water to Airlie Beach
I left Agnes with Eva, and Al.  It'd been a 3.5 month hiatus from the road so it took those few days to get back into the swing of things.
Into the Outback
Save the Best for Last, eh?   Well, this one was the best, for a whole variety of reasons, the biggest one being Eva.  For a month and a half we drove inland and saw something besides the Australian coast.  There were dirt highways, pubs in the middle of nowhere, days without seeing another person, and flies.  It was the longest period of time that I've ever traveled with another person, especially where we were together nearly 24/7.
