| I outfitted myself with three cameras for this trip. While that may seem excessive, each has its own purpose and I felt could play a significiant role on this Trip. |

1. Olympus XA I've travelled with this camera for nearly ten years now, and quite simply I love it. It's from the 70's and completely manual, manual wind, manual focus and manual aperture setting. It's very compact making it easy to carry. It's two main drawbacks are a lack of focus and its flash which is a seperate part and somewhat bulky. The two pluses to the camera are that it takes marvelous shots, I know many professional photographers that swear by them, and it's very durable. It's taken a fair beating over the past decade, but it still takes decent photos. I can't think of a better back up camera to carry with me. Because of the digital camera that's essentially its role these days.

| 2. Nikon Coolpix Digital. This is my main camera. I'm currently on my second. My first broke in NZ, was fixed, and then broke again. I believe is was a Coolpix 4300. I now have a Coolpix S1. It seems a bit better than my first as it is more compact and has less moving parts. Durability is what I really look for in a camera. |
