| Chapter 53 The next day after breakfast, Lucky, Gia and Lu headed out of the breakfast room heading for the car. �Where are going today?� Mikkos asked seeing Lucky was carrying his car keys. �We are going to go see Aunt Angelic. See you later,� Lucky said waving as he walked out the room. �Ducky!� Tasha cried with her hands out stretched. �We want to go,� the twins cried. Victor smiled and said, �Come on you three, lets go see if Lucky has room if not I�m sure he will be willing to take another car.� As Victor gathered the twins, he called out to Zander who was leaving the room with Nikolas and Robin. �Zander, I want you to go along just in case!� Zander wasn�t too happy about this especially after last night but knew better then to argue. Zander smiled at Nikolas and Robin and said in a sarcastic tone of voice, �You heard the man, I have to go protect the prince.� Victor didn�t like that tone but didn�t say anything. He just picked up Tasha in one arm and took the twins by the hand by the other. Carly and Jason went along as well. They weren�t to sure about letting the twins leave the grounds without them. They were both thinking about joining them for added protection. If there was trouble, Zander alone would have his hands full, Jason figured he would go along to help. Carly was just in the mood to see her aunt. Zander got ahead of the group. He caught Lucky just as he was pulling the car out of the garage. �Hold it, I have go with you,� Zander said coldly. �Why?� Lucky asked not really liking the idea of Zander going along. �Because Victor ordered it, and I�m not to happy about it myself. I really spend time with you two spoiled brats,� Zander said coldly. Lucky�s eyes narrowed as he looked at Gia and asked, Buckled up?� �Yeah,� Gia said wondering what Lucky was going to do. �Lu?� �Yes,� Lu said in a small voice. �Good,� Lucky said and he looked back at Zander and said, �Go to hell!� Lucky then shoved the car into drive and floored it. Rocks went flying forcing Zander to jump out of the way. �Lucky!� Zander called out but Lucky didn�t hear him if he did. He didn�t bother to stop. �Ducky,� Tasha cried out as the others walked up behind Zander. Zander turned around and looked right into the face of a very angry Victor. �Sorry,� Zander said smiling. Victor handed Tasha over to Jason and said, �Take the kids in my car and catch up with Lucky. I�m sure you can take care of him.� �Sure,� Jason said as he quickly guided Carly and the twins to the car. They knew Victor was pissed and they knew he was ready to blow. Zander knew it as well. He stood there waiting and watching as Jason loaded the kids up and left with Carly. It was only after the car was gone that Victor finally went off. �How dare you talk to the crown prince like that,� Victor snapped. �He is�� Zander started to say but a look from Victor shut him up. �Zander, you wanted to this job and you got it. Now, I didn�t think I have to tell you this but I guess I do. I don�t give a damn what Lucky says to you, Robin or anyone. Hell, he can call Robin a bitch, slut and a tramp for all that matters and you will say nothing. You will do nothing! Your job isn�t to react at all to what Lucky does. You are around to keep him safe. Now, there is unknown threat on his life. If he gets hurt, it is on your head. Understand!� Victor said getting right into Zander�s face. �Yes, sir,� Zander said. �Good. Now, get on your bike and do your job. Do it without using your mouth!� Victor ordered as he turned around and walked away. Zander did exactly what he was ordered to do. He knew better to argue with Victor when he in a mood like the one was in now. It wasn�t safe. ******************************* Victor was cooling off in the gym. When Mikkos walked into the room. �Who upset you?� Mikkos asked as he watched his brother work on the big bag. �Zander,� Victor hissed as he hit the big bag with all his might. �What did he do? Mikkos asked walking up and grabbing the bag and holding it for his brother. �He smarted off to Lucky and Lucky took off without him. Damn it, Mikkos, he knows there is danger out there and Lucky doesn�t know about it yet. Why in God name did he do that?� Victor asked. Mikkos laughed and said, �I remember a time when you were ticked at me for calling a girl you really liked easy. You got so made at me that no matter what Merck did or said you refused to even bother to look out for my best interest.� �I was a teenager,� Victor said. �Exactly,� Mikkos said smiling. �Zander is a teenager. You are expecting him to take this job as serous as you do. It took you a long time to grow into this job. Zander and Nikolas are young. They are just starting out in life. They need to find themselves. Give Zander time he needs like I�m doing with Nikolas. I�m assure you sooner or later, he will grow into the job.� �Yes, you are right. What about Lucky? Where will he fit in this life?� Victor asked. �I don�t know yet. Lucky keeps his thoughts private. I think only his father is his true confidante and Luke doesn�t talk to anyone on what his son says to him,� Mikkos said as the two brothers walked to a bench and sat down. �Aren�t you worried he will turn his back on all of this?� Victor asked. �No, not really. Lucky will find away to put his own talents to use in this life. I knew from the moment we first came to Port Charles to save my grandson that he will never take over after I�m gone. This world would destroy him and I don�t want that. I like the free sprit that Luke reminds me is Spencer side,� Mikkos said with smile. �Yeah, Luke and Lucky are two of kind,� Victor said with a grin. �No, not exactly but they are close. Lucky isn�t as hard as Luke is on the world. I think that his heart is what will be nice change in this family,� Mikkos said smiling as he stood up and looked at his watch. �I think I�ll go check on Ruby and see how the wedding plans are progressing.� �Have fun,� Victor said and he went to take his shower. He knew Mikkos was right. He needed to let Zander grow into this life. He needed to let the boy become a man on his own. ******************************* �What about this?� Alex asked holding up a piece of cloth for Ruby to see. They were trying to pick out the right kind of tablecloth for the tables for the party. So far Ruby didn�t like any of them. �I don�t know,� Ruby said feeling very lost all of sudden. She really didn�t want to mess up. She wanted this wedding to be perfect. Mikkos into the room right then, he walked up over to Ruby and gave her a kiss. �How things going?� �Slowly,� admitted. �I�m afraid to mess up.� Mikkos smiled at her and said, �Forget tradition. Do what you want. I don�t care what any says or thinks. Hell, we can do this in jeans and I�ll be happy.� Ruby nodded and thought about what he said. She looked over the table clothes and pointed to a plan jane white one. �I want that one.� �You sure?� Alex asked. �Yes, I�m sure,� Ruby said. �Ok, that is taken care of let us get on to the food,� Alex said with a smile. ************************* �Lucky, slow down,� Gia begged as Lucky speed on down the road. Lucky sighed and let off the gas. He looked over at Gia and said, �Sorry, don�t mean to scare you.� �It�s ok,� Gia said. �I just don�t like speed right now.� �That�s cool. Lu, you ok?� Lucky asked looking in the rearview mirror at his sister. �I�m fine but why was Zander acting like a jerk?� Lu asked. �Because he is one,� Lucky muttered coldly. �Lucky,� Gia said smiling at her friend. �Don�t let me destroy with Zander.� �I�m not doing anything he is,� Lucky snapped as he shifted gears again and turned into the drive heading towards the orphanage. Gia and Lu looked at each other and shrugged. They knew better to fight Lucky when he was in this kind of a mood. So, the two of them just sat there and didn�t utter a word. ********************** Angelic was greeting Gia, Lucky and Lu when Jason and Carly pulled up. Michael and Victoria weren�t happy about being left behind. �Lucky, you left us,� Victoria cried as her father put her on to the ground. �I�m sorry,� Lucky said suddenly remembering his little shadows. �Don�t do it again,� Michael sculled as he and his sister walked over to where Lucky and the others were standing. Angelic laughed at this and asked, �I�m a missing something?� Lu told her aunt about the event with the rat. Angelic looked at her and the kids. �You ok?� �Yeah, now,� Lu said smiling. �That�s good,� Angelic said as she guided the group into the orphanage to introduce some of the kids to Lucky or should I say Ducky. Because the moment, Tasha spoke his new nickname. It was hard to get the kids to say anything else after that. Lucky didn�t mind too much but he was hoping that nickname would go away by the time they got home. He could hear the kids at school now! Quacking behind his back! Everything went great though until Lucky saw Zander standing off to the side watching him. Lucky knew that Victor sent him but that didn�t mean he liked idea he was hear. Zander in the mean time had time to think. Victor was right about one thing. He was upset that Gia used him. Oh, he thought using her but when tables where turned, Zander�s pride got hurt. This was what upset him the most and it wasn�t until Victor pointed it out that it dawned on him. Zander caught Lucky watching him and he figured it was to mend some fences. So, he walked over to where Lucky was and asked, �Can we talk?� �About what?� Lucky asked coldly. Zander figured it wasn�t going to be easy. Lucky was the type that could hold a grudge for life. It was just the way he was but Zander knew he had to try. �Look,� Zander said. �I was a jerk. You were right about everything. In fact the reason I�m mad at Gia is because she was using me to get back at Nikolas.� Lucky thought about this for a moment then said, �Did you know what Robin did before I walked into the room?� �No, I didn�t. I would have done that. It wasn�t my place to say anything to anyone. It is my job to look after you and that is it,� Zander said smiling at Lucky. �Ok, I believe you but if your sister does it again. I�m going to make sure Grandfather sends her packing,� Lucky warned his brother. �I�ll fly her home myself. I got nice ass chewing by Mikkos because of her last night. He wasn�t too happy about all of that and you want have ask him. He said if Robin does anything like that again. She is gone!� Zander told Lucky. �Then Robin better behave,� Lucky said. �I don�t care. She is my sister and I love her but that doesn�t mean I like what she did. Victor was right. I have a job to do. I have to stopping letting my feelings guide my actions,� Zander said as he looked around for trouble. He realized now what Victor was always doing when he stood in the open his eyes on other things then the person he was talking to. He was looking for trouble. He was keeping his mind on his job at all times. �You enjoy doing this?� Lucky asked Zander noticing the same look on Zander�s face that Victor had most of the time. �Yeah, I don�t know why but I do. I feel this is where I belong,� Zander admitted glad to see that him and Lucky were starting to work past their troubles. He liked Lucky and liked to keep as a friend. It would make what he wanted to do a lot harder if it wasn�t like that. �I hope Nikolas figures out what he wants. I see he is so lost right now,� Lucky said thinking on what he could do to help his brother. �I don�t blame him for being scared. Taking over this family was a lot to do specially when you don�t know if you are going to do it alone,� Zander said smiling at Lucky. Lucky knew what the smile meant and asked, �Do you think if he knows what I�m planning to take in collage it might help him out?� �Yeah. I mean, if he knew you would be around to help out with the family then it would help him. He would be alone if you do anything else. It is a scary place to be,� Zander told Lucky as they walked back to the group. Lucky thought about this and realize that Zander was right. He might not be able to help Nikolas all the way but he could tell him a bit of his plans. In hopes that he would ease some of Nikolas worries. ****************************** Lucas found out that Lucky and the other left without him. He was upset and went to complain to his mother. �Mom,� Lucas yelled as he stormed out back towards the pool. �They ditched me.� �You just found that out,� Bobbie said smiling. Lucas had found the arcade room that Mikkos had put in the house for him. In fact, Lucas has been there since then for hours on end. She was shocked that he even realized that the others were around. �Yeah, they could have come got me,� Lucas complained. �Lucas, you don�t make time for them. Why should they make time for you? You bury yourself in those video games all day and all night. Now, you realize that the others left without you and your upset. Well, sweetheart I don�t feel sorry for you. You did this to yourself,� Bobbie told him. �But mom, they knew where I would be,� Lucas complained. �Yeah, they knew and they figured you won�t want to come out. You know, I think you might want to stay out of that room during the day. You will find out that there is more to do then just play video games,� Bobbie told him kissing him on the cheek. Lucas didn�t say anything. He just walked away feeling frustrated. Bobbie didn�t pity him. She had been trying to get him to realize that spending all this time with video games was bad. She was hoping that this would help. ******************************************** Later on, the group came back from seeing Angelic and everyone was surprised to find Zander and Lucky actually talking to each other again. Mikkos winked at Victor as the boys walked past them. Bobbie caught the boys in the hallway heading towards their rooms to change. They were going try out the dirt bikes that Mikkos had bought for their use this summer. �Lucky?� �Yeah?� Lucky said turning around and smiling at his aunt. �What are you planning on doing this afternoon?� Bobbie asked. �Zander and I are planning to try out the dirt bike trail,� Lucky said smiling. �Do you mind asking Lucas to join you. He is a bit upset that he was left out of the trip this morning,� Bobbie said with a knowing smiling on her face. �Do you think he would want to join us?� Lucky asked. Lucas was usually so wrapped up in his video games the kid hardly uttered a word. �Oh, I think he will be willing to join you today and in fact you can find him out by the pool,� Bobbie said with a knowing smile on her face.
